Unfortunately, online Mass. death records go up to 1915, then skip to 1970 (I'm not sure why there's such a gap).

Most of my maternal ancestors lived in Mass. also, and it's frustrating not to be able to find their death records online! There are some newspaper sites you can join on a monthly basis that have Mass. newspapers from the Springfield area; they were very helpful in my searches in that area.
