Hello. I'm looking for any guidance/clues/direction about locating my great-grandfather. He was my great-grandmother's first husband: her name was Maria (or Marie or Anna Maria, depending on which record) Carme DiLorenzo (nee Ahrweiler; born in 1899 in Koblenz, Germany). Her first husband, my grandmother Cecilia's father, was listed as John Carmanica (born in NY) on Maria and Cecilia's passenger record (1922 from Antwerp to Portland, Maine). I have been able to locate a John Caramanica born in 1899 but in Italy and a John Caramanna, who was born in 1899 in New York and lived in Niagara Falls, NY in 1900. My instinct tells me the latter may be the right one, but I can't trace either of them further or to my great-grandmother and grandmother, both of whom used Carme and not Carmanica. Also, according to the passenger record, the Carme/Carmanicas lived in Greenfield, MA in 1922/3, but then Maria and Cecilia moved to Turners Falls, MA and with no sign of John Carmanica.
Does anyone have any thoughts about where I might be able to turn to maybe find the next piece of this puzzle?
Thanks very much!
