I am researching the Paine family of Massachusetts. I hope there may be a connection to the Paine family of Maryland. My ggggrandfather, John Paine, was born in 1775/1780 in Maryland. I feel, though, that they migrated there at some point. Also, his future wife, Sarah Jane Lawrence, born in September 1791, in Maryland. The Lawrence family, hopefully connected, would be the same Lawrences from Massachusetts.

It is a probability that John Paine's father was in the Revolutionary War. The family from my genealogical standpoint begins in Maryland with the birth of these two people, who then with their families migrate North to Ohio some time in 1810.

I know that there were, and probably still are, in Massachusetts. My whole family on my mother's side is from the Massachusetts area starting with the Mayflower, then Maine, and down to Ohio. I am hoping there is some relevancy to my query. Thank you.
