I'm trying to help my dad find any relatives related to his father. My grandparents divorced when he was very young. And my dad was adopted by his stepfather. He's also getting up there in age and would like some kind of closer in his life in regards to this. My grandfather's name is Joseph Patuto who lived and died in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He died March 1979. My grandfather's parents immigrated here from Italy. If anyone has any info please contact me. I need closer as well. Thank you

Hello. If you go to www.whitepages.com and search for that surname in MA, you will find over 50 people mentioned. And several of them are in Haverhill.

I would imagine you would find the same thing at www.411.com

Thank you. I noticed the one that said Joseph P Patuto born in 1909, which is the one I need. He was born in Rhode Island. He married my grandmother in West Newton, Massachusetts. Is there any information connected directly in regards to who is kids are? I don't think I quite understand how to read what was posted. Also the one that states Joseph Newton Patuto born Nov. 8 1909 is also my grandfather. Is it possible that he changed his middle name?

I do appreciate the response. My dad has tried that and called the ones in Haverhill, which all of them stated that they didn't know Joseph Patuto.

The info I gave you is all for the same person.

The birth record for 1909 says he was born in Newton Massachusetts. His parents are Peter & Mary Forte and they were born in benevento Italy.

Some people take on middle names later in life. My "guess" would be that p stands for Peter after his father

The 1920 & 1930 census show you living with his mother and sibblings.

The 1940 census has not been released yet.

Do you know when and where he was married?

Why do you think he was born in RI?

Ten years ago my dad had obtained copies of his father's birth certificate, marriage license to his mother, and military documents. These documents have been misplaced. He does remember though that on the birth certificate it stated that his father was born in Rhode Island. My grandmother and him were married in West Newton, Massachusetts, year unknown.

I just got off the phone with my dad. He stated that when he went to Massachusetts to obtain a copy of the military records on his father that there were two Joseph Patutos enlisted in the military at the same time. My dad also explained to me that he had gotten his father's birth certificate in Rhode Island. Might it might be possbile that there were two Joseph Patutos born on the same day and year? Is it possible that both have them had parents that immigrated from Italy?

If he was born in RI, he cannot be the same Joseph Patuto that was born In massachusetts.

It does sound like the same person since he was married in Newton. Perhaps your father's memory is wrong.

You could contact the city clerk in Newton and ask them to lookup the marriage record. Use your father's birthday for a time frame to search for the record.

The record will tell you where he was born and the names of his parents
