The above is the link for the 1940 Census for Edward and the family in Boston. He's also on the 1930.

There might be some directories online - I'm not a paid member on Ancestry so I can't get into the databases - I use familysearch. Post another message to see about directories. I believe there are directories at the Boston Public Library on microfilm. There used to be some at the Mass Archives - you would have to email them and ask.
