Yeah, this family is a hard one!
So many Mclaughlin's and not many details to help narrow it down. It had been years without anything really new on my Gggf life before 1860 and before he came to CA. Once in CA I have lots on his life here but he never left any details of his parents, sibling or life before coming to CA.

I just was trying to find more on his fourth daughter (who has the same married name as his wife) I wanted to try out the new Family Search and boom....I found a baby born to my Gggf &gggm before they came with there two young daughters to San Francisco. Luckily it was for Boston which had books on vitals. This started a whole new line of research as the baby died a year later. Unfortunately burial records are not easy even through the Archdiocese! I'm still searching....but meanwhile I was hoping to find if they were living with family because they were only in Boston this time for maybe 2yrs. As they had just come from St. Louis, MO.
I have some crazy stories that maybe why they were running around but no facts yet!

I just can't narrow the McLaughlins down too many all with the same names and birth dates. My wish is that I can find a record with some parents name!!! I'm not holding my breath though.

I use Ancestry & Family Search, daily but the records are slim in St. Louis. I keep hoping something new will pop up in any area!

For now I'm the history detective...
