My great-grandfather Antonio Maria Fernandes (born in 1886) from Carviçais (Moncorvo, Portugal) came to Plymouth in 1916. I am guessing he came back to Portugal in 1919/ early 1920 as my grandmother was born in October 1920 in Portugal,. I am looking for the whereabouts of my great-granddad in Plymouth. I know that a lot of Portuguese from the same village as my great-granddad’s worked at the local Cordage Company. So I was wondering if Antonio Maria Fernandes worked there too. Are there any employee records from the Plymouth Cordage Company that can be consulted online? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
