Looking for how John FOSTER came to be in Salem, Essex, MA in 1649 when he married Martha TOMPKINS. Publications I have viewed imply John was in Roger CONANT's company.

Conant's company might refer to Cape Ann, Salem, or sailing from England. The Salem group is believed to number about 20 individuals - is there a list somewhere of who these people were?

I want to identify John's ancesters in England, but being born somewhere in England in 1618 is a tough nut to crack. Conant is believed to have sailed from England in 1623 on the ship Anne, but he is not listed on the passenger list. Needless to say, I find no record of John FOSTER on the passenger lists available.

I wonder if there is a Historical society or some agency in Salem that would have that information.

Who were all the founders of Salem? When was in established as a town/city. I wish my family were still alive I'm sure someone of them would have the answer.
