William Hammett, the builder, was a cousin of James Hammett, the Tolpuddle Martyr. I am descended from Richard Hammett, who was William's brother. Together, they built the Methodist Chapel in Tolpuddle. They also built 12 or 13 houses, on the same plot of land, at "Hammett Close". In the early days, all of those houses were occupied by Hammett's, or close friends of Hammett's. James Hammett, the Tolpuddle Martyr, lived in one of those houses, after he returned from transportation. The Methodist Chapel deeds can be seen at the Dorchester Records Office.
I also have Tolpuddle Lovelace's in my family tree. I am not directly descended from the Tolpuddle Martyr Lovelace's, but from their close relatives.
If anyone is interested, I can search out more details about any of this. I researched this stuff in the census records, at the London Records Office, some years ago. I have the results, somewhere, in the back of one of my filing cabinets.
