There is a John Slowik listed in the SS Death Index: born 7 Dec 1890 and died Nov 1963. I'm wondering if he might be the same as Jan Slowik in a WW I military draft record, living at 6 Fulton Ct,, New Bedford, MA, born Dec 27, 1889,listed with a wife and 3 children, and the record signed June 5, 1917. His birthplace is listed there as Korczyna, Poland.
This might be the same John listed in these two census:
1930:
Acushnet, Bristol, MA
"Slwak" John, 40yrs, mg. at 20yrs., Poland X3, emig. 1908
Mary, 42yrs, mg. at 22yrs., Poland X3, emig. 1910
Sophie, 18yrs, MA
Joseph, 16yrs, MA
Helen, 13yrs, MA
Adela, 8yrs, MA
Kismire, 7yrs, MA
Stanley, 11 months, MA
1920:
124 Cedar Grove Street
New Bedford Ward 2, Bristol, MA
"Sloviack" John - 29yrs - emigrated 1907
Mary - 31yrs - emigrated 1909
Sophie - 8yrs
Joseph - 5yrs
Helen - 3 1/2yrs
I've followed a Jan Slowik in Massachusetts City Directories as listed with Ancestry.com - in Fairhaven, New Bedford, beginning in 1907, then New Bedford in 1909, 1914, and 1921.
My interest in him is that I have a missing Jan Slowik in a large family of siblings that emigrated from Bratkowka, Poland, (which is close to Korczyna) between 1890-1910. The Jan Slowik in this family has the exact birthdate of Dec 27, 1889, as the one listed above.
I would very much like to confirm or dispute my suspicions that all of these might be the same Jan/John Slowik from the Slowick/Slowik family I've been researching, going back to Polish records.
A response from any relatives of this family would be greatly appreciated.
