Armand Gladu
ADAMS -- Armand Gladu, 73, of 1301 Polk City Road, Hainee City, Fla., formerly of Adams and also a resident of Cheshire for 20 years, died Jan. 7 at the Palm Garden Nursing Home in Winterhaven, Fla.
Born in Adams on July 19, 1926, son of Armand and Irene Bedard Gladu, he graduated from the former Adams High School.
From November 1944 until January 1945, he was a member of 33rd Infantry Battalion in the Army.
He returned to Adams and was employed in General Electric Co. in Pittsfield where he was a supervisor in the power transformer department for 34 years and then worked for Naval Ordnance as a quality control inspector for six years, retiring in 1989. After his retirement, he moved to Florida.
While in Adams, Mr. Gladu was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame Des Sept Douluers and St. Thomas Aquinas.
He leaves his wife, the former Livia Carlotto, whom he married Nov. 28, 1965; four sons, Stephen Gladu of Palm Bay, Fla., Jeffrey Gladu of Burkburnett, Texas, Armand P. Gladu of San Diego, Calif., and Michael Gladu of Adams; two daughters, Joanne Gladu and Lisa Gladu, both of Dalton; a stepdaughter, Linda Beach of New Lebanon, N.Y.; a stepson, Edward Scarafoni of Haines City, Fla.; a brother, Ronald Gladu of Adams; a sister, Eileen Baker of Adams; three stepbrothers, Albert, Bernard and Richard Beauchemin, all of Adams; a stepsister, Jennette Ford of Adams; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Mass for Armand Gladu will take place tomorrow, Jan. 15, at 9 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Alert Hose Co., or to the American Cancer Society through the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220, who is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gladu also leaves several nieces and nephews. A brother, Richard Gladu, is deceased.
