I don't have the proofs that you desire, but here's something worth pondering. Felton researchers claim that "John Felton, Senior, born 1760/1780 in Taneytown, Carroll County" got there by way of a guy (Benjamin Felton, b. 1720) who traveled south from Massachusetts all the way to Maryland. Yet the Maryland State Archives (MSA) has records (attached) of a John Felton in Southern Maryland as early as 1651. An alternative and perhaps simpler explanation for the existence of Prudence's father in Northern Maryland is that he was descended from the John Felton already in Maryland's Calvert and Dorchester Counties almost a hundred years before Benjamin from Massachusetts was born. Are Felton researches aware of the John Felton from Southern Maryland? How do the rule him out?

Linda
