I am looking for information on the early Blades to Somerset County, Maryland. Somerset later became Somerset, Worcester, and Wicomico Counties. Robert, Sarah, and daughter Mary settled in Somerset in 1669 having moved there from Accomack County, Virginia. Records indicated Robert was in Accomack County in July 1666. He received a 150 acre grant of land to move to Maryland from Virginia. He was a planter. I have no information on what country he came from and when. Also I am attempting to trace his offspring Blades up to present day. I would appreciate any information that would help me learn more about Robert.

I am interested in any information that you may have on your Young family. I descend from Leah Massey, do of Caleb Massey jr. of Accomack-b. 1810. Leah Massey married a Michael (?) Young from Va. according to our records around 1831. Leah's older brother Luther married Sallie Ann Young in 1827 in Accomack. Records for our Massey family are found in both Accomack and Worcester. I have not been able to find much on this Young line. Any lead is so appreciated!

I noticed your Melvin surname. I am researching my MELVIN ancestors in MD. Do you have information on MELVIN families that moved to NC in the 1780-1820 time frame. I am glad to share information. Thank you.

The infor I have on Melvins from Maryland involve marriage of Margaret Melvin to Daniel Sullivan(e) and they ended up in Guilford Co. N. C. with some of the family moving on to Tenn. later. This was in time period 1775-1792 on up to early 1800's . Thelma

Dan - I am the gggrandaughter of Elizabeth A. Blades and her husband, William Ward, of the Pocomoke area of Worcester County, MD. I have recently begun researching my Ward ancestry.

I would appreciate any information and source references that you may have for Elizabeth's side of the Blades, and most particularly any information you may have picked up on William Ward, as he is proving to be a tough nut to crack.

Thank you so much for any information you may be able to offer. Please contact me directly if you do not wish to post the info to the board.

Allie - I think it is possible that your Sarah Ward could be a sister to my gggrandfather William Ward. I don't believe she is his daughter because William was born around 1811, and although he and Elizabeth Blades had a daughter named Sarah, she was born 1837-1840 and married Isaac Bonnewill in 1870.

Given your Sarah's birthdate she could be a sister to William. Unfortunately William is the brick wall in my Ward side of the family...I don't have any sibling or ancestry information for him (yet) at all. I'd love to hear any further ancestry information you have on your Sarah.

A relationship between the two looks promising because my Wards were (and many still are) based in the Girdletree/Klej Grange/Pocomoke area. I look forward to hearing back from you. Best Regards - Paula

Paula,

Thanks for getting back to me. I just started digging in to the Conaways, Wards and Johnson's in the Girdletree area. Any info I find I'll pass on. I did pull up census sheet in Ancestry.com. Have you looked at any? If not, I'll post or email you direct, the census year and names I've found.

Allie
