I have done research on most local families (Girdletree and Stockton) and have data on the Aaron J. Ingersoll family. He was born in NJ in 1858 and no doubt came to Girdletree as part of the "Oyster Gold-Rush." He and wife Emma C. Hill produced at least 7 children, including William Winfield Ingersoll, b. 1887.
If you let me know where your own collection of data now stands and how you descend from the Ingersoll family, I can perhaps help you. --Bob Jones

Sorry about the late reply. I am the grandson of Nellie Lee Chapman ( Ingersoll ) the daughter of William and Sarah Ingersoll. I just came into an unbroken line in the Ingersoll"s going back to 1600 "s England.

Alice,

If your grandparents were Elizabeth and Clayton Johnson, then we must be cousins. I'm the daughter of Wesley Johnson. I thought I knew all my cousins, at least by name, but it's amazing what genealogy research turns up. Do you by any chance know S. Caroline Johnson's maiden name?

Your dad is my father Walter's half brother along with Roby, Mae and John. My father had a brother Uncle Hi and a sister Aunt Beatrice. My dad's mom Zela died in the 1918 flu epidemic. Then Clayton married your Grandmother. I'm still trying to dig back further.
This is the info I have on S. Caroline.

Sarah Caroline Conaway - Born July 1854 Parents James Thomas Conaway and Sarah Ward. Married John S. Johnson
Their grave is right by Aunt Ginger's house in Girdletree.

If you'd like you can email me direct at JeenEOlogy@aol.com

In case you really want to know where in the world Girdletree is. There is a small town on the eastern shore of Maryland with that name. I'm not sure about the road you mentioned

Thanks, Girdletree is where my father's family (Johnson) is from. My Aunt Ginger and cousin still live there and I visit as often as I can. While visiting a few years ago I bought the book "Where the world is Girdletree" The posting you replied to was one in which someone asked what was written about William Ingersoll in the book.
