I am trying to trace my ancestors back to place of origin. We have historical documentation to prove that four "Manly" brothers, Thomas, Cornelius, John and 1 brother who's name has been lost, were in St. Mary's no later than 1716. Perhaps John came first, followed by his brothers. I am a little confused as the family history states the brothers settled with Leonard Calvert, brother to Lord Calvert in 1633. However, the documentation proves John was in St. Mary's prior to this date. John Manly was M.P. for Bossiney at one time. He was also Listed in the Maryland "Calendar of Wills", bearing "The Great Seal of the Colony" in 1716. He was "Secretary of Customs and Keeper of the Great Seal". His brother Cornelius is found as a witness to a will in St. Mary's in 1743. We simply don't know if the family came from Ireland or England. Family history isn't clear before 1716. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
