I am trying to locate information about my 3rd great grandfather, the Reverend James A. Massey. I have been informed that he is listed in the MASSEY genealogies by Judge Frank A MASSEY as the son of Benjamin MASSIE/MASSEY, a descendant of Nicholas MASSEY. My James A is almost invariably identified with his middle initial A! Here is a brief bio:
* He was born Aug 3rd 1808 in Maryland and died July 9th 1872, probably in Talbot Co, MD. He is buried in Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton, Talbot Co, MD.
* He became a Methodist Episcopal minister in 1830.
* James A. MASSEY married Ann PARKER on Mar. 31, 1831 in Worcester Co., MD.
* They had a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth MASSEY, my 2nd great grandmother, born 18 Apr 1832 in Salisbury, Worcester Co, Maryland.
* Their other children were: Mary Pamela MASSEY (1835-aft 1880); Virginia Caroline MASSEY (1836-1886); Wilbur Fisk MASSEY (1830-1923) - all b. in Virginia; and Hanna MASSEY (1845-b1860) b. Philadelphia. The first three all married PHOEBUS siblings: 1856, 1859, 1861 & 1876. (Wilbur twice!)
* James A MASSEY married his daughter Sarah Elizabeth MASSEY (1811 -1878) to Joseph Spry Robson on 9 Feb 1852 in St. Michael's, Talbot Co, MD.
As a minister, James A MASSEY moved around, a lot. He lived in Philadelphia, PA about 1830; Worcester Co, Maryland in 1831-32; Dorchester Co, MD in the mid-1830s; Philadelphia about 1846; Easton, Talbot Co, MD in 1850; St. George's, Accomack Co, VA in 1860; and back to Talbot in 1870. He may have lived in Somerset Co, Maryland, too as three of his children were married in that county. Also Wilmington, Delaware at some point.
I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide.
