The Maryland State Archives is attempting to do something that has been attempted in the past to no avail, that is, to identify all 400 men from Maryland who fought at the Battle of Long Island, August 27-29, 1776. The Roster of the 100-man company led by Captain Edward Veazey, consisting of men from Kent and Queen Anne's County, went missing immediately after the battle. Only the roster of officers is available. Captain Veazey, himself, was killed. General Smallwood's list of those lost is also missing.
If you have any information that might be of assistance, especially as regards the men who fought with Captain Veazey, please contact the Maryland State Archives, 350 Rowe Boulevard, Annapolis, 21401
