Last year while visiting The Bear Creek Cemetery, I found some family members or believed them to be, as they are buried in the same row as the rest of the family that I am not sure how, or if they are related. I think they may be related to Mahlon Millers side and I don’t know much about them. The stones are for Abraham Miller age 61, William O Miller. I seem to remember and aunt that was a Saylor or a Gnagey? Looks like Sally Miller perhaps a daughter of Peter P Miller and Barbara Yoder married a Saylor. Also I am not sure which boat we came over on it looks like John Miller father of Jacob came over on the Charming Nancy 11/9/1738 as his parcel of land was next to Jacob Hoscstetler and at some point we married into his family. Also does Edward Busler fit into the Millers?

I would love to have Curtin's obituary if you are willing to share it. Through the research I have done I was pretty certain that John was Curtin's grandfather and that Sarah Vansickle was his 2nd wife. I haven't been able to bridge the gap between Melinda Street and Sarah between 1850 and 1860. Being able to positively prove that John was married to Sarah and even more so that he is in fact Curtin's grandfather would be so fantastic. Learning more about the Vansickle children and Joseph Burke would be great also. It sounds like you have more info than I but I would be happy to share anything with you that I could.

Thanks,
Mike

I've been a researcher of the Vansickle name for over a decade, yet I have no clue as to the ancestry of Margaret Baker Vansickle. I cannot say whether or not she has any connection to the Burke family.

I do have quite a bit of info. on the Vansickle children listed with John Burke and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Vansickle. I also have info. on John and Sarah's son, Joseph.

I do have Curtin Burke's obituary. Please let me know if you would like a copy.

Jeannie

P.S. Upon further research I learned that Curtin Burke's grandfather was the John Burke who married Sarah Vansickle. Sarah was his second wife.

Hello! I hope you are still out there searching. Though I am not related, I have done a great deal of research on this family. I am trying to sort out the Van Sickle/Fike connection. It is my belief at this time that Nancy was married to a Fike before she married Ezekiel/Hezekiah Van Sickle.

It appears that Mrs. Mary Gibbs may be the first child of Ezekiel and Nancy. I believe Jane Van Sickle, sister of Mrs. Gibbs, was actually born a Fike. Without a doubt Alexander was a Fike, though I have seen the use of both Fike and Van Sickle as his surname.

There are so many connections among the names, including Mrs. Gibbs's brother, Charles Van Sickle, who married Sarah Fike (daughter of Levi C. Fike), and of course the Lillian VS-Fike that you have mentioned.

Have you found the surname of Nancy, mother of these individuals? Or any marriage records?

Thanks,
Jeannie

Don't know if you still need info on William Harrison Wright.
He was my ggf. His wife was Harriet Jane Harvey. Their daughter was my grandmother Della Grace Wright Taylor. They had eleven children, ten of whom survived into adulthood. A baby boy did in 1893. My middle name is Wright and I have Grandmother Harriet's obit from Wilson, Garret County in 1941. In the Obit it states that her husband William Harrison Wright was with the Sixth Division, West Virginia Cavalry for three years (I have verified this with Civil War records) and that he fought in the Indian Wars. I hope this helps you and if you have any additional information on his please let me know. I have tried to verify his life prior to marriage but have come up with nothing other than his military record. Thank you.

I am planning a trip to Grantsville to research my husband's maternal line. What are my best resources there to find information? My husband's grandfather was Fayette Otis Yommer. He was born in Grantsville in 1891 to Lewis and Mary Jane (Otto) Yommer. Lewis's parents, Johann and Elizabeth (Bender) Yommer immigrated from Germany between 1850 and 1857. Their oldest child, Catherine, was born in Germany about 1849. Their second child, Daniel, was born in Pennsylvania about 1857. Lewis was born in Grantsville in 1866. Johann died in 1868.
Fayette was in Grantsville in the 1810 census. He shows up in Akron, OH in a 1919 city directory. Later in 1919 he married Kathleen Snyder as Fayette Otis Younger.
Henry Schmale was a first cousin of Katherine (Lantz) Kahl - wife of Ludwig. They came by ship to Baltimore. Hope this might be helpful. My husband tells me that his Grandmother - Babara (Kahl) Miller often went into town to visit with Mrs. Susanna Schmale.

If anyone has the burial records for deer park cemetery, I would appreciate the dates of death for Samuel Smith Browning and his wife Anna M. Grimes Browning. Their son Dennis D. Browning died on 19 August 1939 in Preston County, West Virginia and is buried in Deer Park also. Thank you.

Thank you for your honesty. I met Renee when she was a child and we have reconnected on Facebook. Mary's sister Dot took her in. My father stayed friends with Mary's family after their divorce. Though Mary iniated the divorce with my father, he could very well have left her at any time for the same reasons as Dr. Walston. I'm not at all surprised. Dad, of course, didn't talk about any of this. He was a very private person. I learned most of it from my mother (his second wife) after his death.

Renee and I were mostly looking for an obit, death cert, or other information concerning the plane crash and her mother's death. The family told her next to nothing. We were rather confused as we keep getting different stories about where the crash happened, and we have no idea in what county the death cert was filed.

I'd be willing to share more in a less public forum if you want to email me, achtland111@att.net. Thanks for sharing what you know. Shari

Mary's daughter, Rene, also survived the plane crash. Dr. Walston and Mary were at the time involved in a nasty dispute involving her infidelity. She even tried to pick up on the private detective he had tailing her in a Sioux City bar! The Doctor and young girl walked away with minimal injuries while Mary broke her neck. I was married to the Doctor's eldest daughter Paula. None of us familiar to the case thought that all the facts came out. He died in 2007 and little Rene was shipped somewhere in Tennessee to a family member. It was all very suspicious.

In the 1910 census, Albert Whetsell is listed as the proprietor of a restaurant in "Oakland Town", Garrett Co., MD. Where would I begin to search to find out the name and location of this restaurant? Thanks in advance for your help.
