I have the Bedford Co, PA Archives, Vol. 5 which has a marriage announcement on page 89:
Joseph France (Frantz?) of Selby's Port, Allegheny Co, MD (now Garrett Co, MD) married Mrs. Mary Lee of Cumberland Valley Twp. on 1-22-1846.
I have been researching the Lee/Wertz family of Cumberland Valley Twp., Bedford Co, PA. Mary Wertz, d/o Paul Wertz and Catherine Stiffler married George Lee sometime after his arrival in that area in 1812. Mary Lee is named in her father's will of 1825. George Lee is found on the census of 1830 living in Cumberland Valley Twp., Bedford Co, PA. I have not been able to find info on them after that date. If this marriage of Joseph France/Frantz of Selby's Port is to my Mary (Wertz) Lee, this could explain a lot. I would be so appreciative if anyone has further info on this family. My descent is from the daughter of George and Mary: Barbara Lee who married John Cook in Bedford Co, PA in 1851. Barbara is found living with her sister, Matilda (Lee) Dunkle on the 1850 census of Bedford Co, PA.
