I've just found a small copper plaque on my property in Somerset Co., Maryland. This property had been part of a large old farm. I don't know if it is a joke, or a real item that was made for J.R.Bramble. There is a Coat of Arms insignia at the top of the plaque...inscribed: Nos Nostraque Deo. The Coat of Arms could have been that of John Rogers.
Says: Take Notice that as from todays date poachers shall be shot on first sight and if practicable questioned afterwards.
By Order of J.R.Bramble, Head Gamekeeper to His Grace the Duke of Gumby. 1st November 1868
I can't find any Brambles in Worcester or Somerset Counties, but Dorchester has many Brambles listed.
