Lloyd family lived in Chesapeake City from approx 1870 to late 1900

We have hit a "brick wall" with our great great grandfather (Samuel Lloyd). Only found him in one 1880 census. He was born about 1830 in Maryland and married, but we don't know to who. He married again a Rebecca Caleb (found out her maiden name is Chambers...she was previously married to a James Caleb). The census does not list an occupation. Rebecca had two sons with James Caleb...John and Walter. Children listed in the one census: Julia, Frank (who I found somewhere that his name was actual Benjamin), Sallie (Sarah)married James Bedwell, Susie (married Joseph Lloyd) and Dorey (went by Dorry but name was Theodore). Samuel has become sort of an enigma as we can find nothing about him. Our great grandfather was Dorry Lloyd. If anyone is at all familiar with this family, any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I have information on this person (she was my grandfather's mother) if anyone is still interested. Stumbled across this old thread :)
Her maiden name was Anna Clark Biddle born 1879
Home in 1880: Chesapeake City, Cecil, Maryland
Daughter of Edward H. Biddle and Anna R.

Her siblings were Lillie E. (9 years older), Arthur M. (7 yrs older), and Guy R. (4 years older).

Edward H, Anna's father, was born around 1847. He was the son of Noble Biddle, and the names go back from there - if anyone is interested I have more information on both sides
We are cousins, perhaps third or fourth? I am a descendant of Edward Washington Whitlock and Sarah May as well. I have geneaology info on Edward's father, mother, and all four grandparents, and of course the well known Price family much farther back. Contact me @ dmwhitlockmd@comcast.net if interested. I am unable to contact you via ancestry.com.

In addition, I have Malentear Whitlock as a twelfth child, born 1893 but dying in 1898 to add to your comprehensive list of their children. Would have slipped in between the 1890 and 1900 census data.

I would be interested in hearing from others along this family line to share and exchange information.
Virginia,
I just returned from a trip to Bardstown, KY in Nelson County. I was looking for the parentage of my GGGrandfather, Charles King. I had much success at the Bardstown Public Library Genealogy Room. We found the baptism record for Charles and 3 of his brothers. His parents are William King, son of Jacob, and Nancy Medcalf, daughter of John K. Metcalf. I beleive this is the Jacob that decends from the De Coninck line. I have looked on ancestry, but everything I find is unsourced. Do you have more info on this line? Thanks so much.

I believe that William Little's father was a William Little, Sr.in the 1790 Census but I have very little additional information. Can you tell me where the Little family came from prior to Cecil County and the children of William and Hannah (Simcoe) Little? Do you have any information on the Simcoe family?
Regards,
V. Brian Anderson

I called the Cecil County Courthouse Marriage Division and they said in 1919 "Marriage Applications" were kept. On the other hand she said not everyone filled out an application and were married in one of Elkton's many Marriage Parlors of that era. Elkton is known as the marriage capitol of the United States because in its hayday they did not require blood test or a waiting period.

The courthouse has the applications available to see.

Happy Researching

Hi there!! I believe we might be second cousins!! Your grandfather Robert would of been my great uncle. His brother Tim was my grandfather. Not sure if you remember, but Tim married Helen (Michaelina) and they had six children. I am their daughter Rosemarie's daughter Kari. I don't think anyone has been in touch with the Lloyd side of the family for quite some time. So, this is really great!!! A cousin of mine have been to Chesapeake City a couple of times and have found a few headstones at Bethel Cemetery. But we've hit a real stumbling block with Robert and Dory's father Samuel (at least that's what we think he name was). But....I'll be more than happy to share whatever I've got so far. Maybe together we can knock down some of the brick-walls in the Lloyd Ancestry. You say you are in the Sipple line. I remember Delores Lloyd Sipple a little bit...probably met when I was quite young, so my memory is hazy..LOL!! But, feel free to email me at: karilps@verizon.net anytime. I'd love to compare notes!! Take care.

Hi,
I am trying to find info on my great grandfather, as his marriage to my great grandmother was annuled, and never heard from again.

In the court notes of their annulment, the grounds were "intermarriage to a minor". She was 16 when they married, and we think he may have been jewish or native american.

I know they were married in Elkton on 30 Sep 1919, and I actually have the marriage certificate. The issue is that no parental info is provided on it... Was the parent's information required for a license in 1919?

I greatly appreciate any help!

Leah

Hi Kelly,
I found him in the one census when he was living with my great grandmother, after that, I don't know as we don't know where he went after the marriage ended. So, I have a great grandfather, and NO idea who he is! I don't even have his date of birth, just an approximate year 1897, which he couldn've lied about... This is such a mystery to me, but I have very little info to go on.

Leah

Dear Naomi,
I found your post due to my compulsive Googling of my family's name :) The Cecilware company was established by my great-grandfather, William Cecil, who was the father of Richard Cecil and Louis too. My father was Bill (born William, but he changed his name on most documents to Bill), one of Richard's sons (the other is my uncle Dan, who lives in Rochester, NY; their sister Elizabeth, my aunt, lives in Ashland, OR). Richard died in 1971. According to my dad (who died in 1998), William, his grandfather, sold the company at some point and made out well financially from it -- I recall that at one point Dad got a substantial inheritance that we used to buy a new car and make a down payment on a house when we moved. How interesting that you're in Kansas, too! Dad was a professor at Washburn University in Topeka until his death. My mom still lives there. I am a grad student at KU, where I teach intro-level French. At one point I got a smallish tattoo of the Cecilware logo on my back to celebrate my family and my heritage. I hope this information is helpful to you, even though it comes 6 years after you first posted your request. You can contact me if you want to, and I can help you get in touch with other family. Best wishes, Thea

Hello
Okay, now I am looking for the will of Joshua Wilson Buckmaster. Born 1750 - Kent Delaware and died 4-7-1812 Mercer Co. PA. Since I found a specific date, I assume someone out there has the will for him?
What about his father's will?
Thanks
Sue

Many marriage license applications asked for parents' names, but omitting them from the paperwork wouldn't prohibit a marriage.

Have you found your great-grandfather in the census records? Death records? If you're trying to find his parents than there are other sources to consider.

Regards,

Kelly
