I have a Carroll County Marriage Licenses 1837--1899 Book List by Groom and by Bride, I would be happy to do look-up's. Book dose state that there are many that exists that are not listed in this Book. My Grate Grandfather is one not listed.

I am looking for Shipleys that eventually migrate into Baltimore. I think these folks may have married in Carroll County: William A. Shipley (don't know his wife), and Absolem (spelled many different ways!) Shipley. His wife is named Sarah. William was born abt. 1848 and Absolem abt. 1824. Thank you for checking.

Do you need more information about either of their parents? The Shipley books do have them in Book 1.

If I have found the correct William A. Shipley, he is the son of Larkin who is the brother of my direct, Sarah Shipley.

The book doesn't follow them forward though.

This is from the 2002 Shipley book...

.13994 Larkin5 Shipley (Jesse4, William, Sr.3, Robert2, Adam1) was born about 1810, He married Eliza A. BENTON 4 May 1829, in Montgomery Co., MD. She was born in 1812 and died between 1850 and 1860. The 1850 Census records Larkin and family living near Poplar Springs in what is now Howard Co., MD. During the eighteen fifties, they moved to Montgomery Co., purchasing a farm near Mullinix Mill. The 1860 Census records Larkin's occupation as a farmer. The names of Larkin's children and their years of birth were extracted from the Censuses of 1850, 1860 and 1870.
Larkin and Eliza were buried in the vicinity of old Mt. Lebanon School, formerly a Methodist Church. Information was given by Robert E. (Dubel) Lyons of Baltimore, MD.

Thank you for the info. I can't rule out that 1900 census which shows my William A. born August 1848, wife Maggie born May 1866. So, I'm looking for a William abt. 11 or 12 in 1860. I was also told by older relatives there was family buried in Upperco which is near Hampstead MD.

I THINK I am following the family of Absolom Shipley b. abt. 1824 married to Sarah Ebaugh. I haven't had access to the 1850 census but in 1870 Absolum lists his children as William 21, Anna B. 16, Amon H. 15, Theodore 13, Mary A. 9, Lonzo 2. He was a stone mason in Hampstead. My William was born 8/1848 as listed in the Baltimore census 1900. This family seems to move to the same 16-WD in 1900 which gives me another reason to think I'm correct. Absolom seems to have died by then. I'm not ruling out other William Shipleys, though, so any ideas would be great! Thanks,
