Dear Kitty, I don't recall finding your USGenWeb (CARROLL Co.) obits before. I am a big Leatherwood and Gosnell researcher and I am not sure where the name Harrison fits in w/o consulting my notebooks. Harrison Day is a name connected w/ Leatherwood.
I descend from the 3 Samuel Leatherwoods and John, and 3rd wife, Elizabeth Cushen Leatherwood, through Jesse Leatherwood. Harrison Day descends from John and Elizabeth Gillis Leatherwood and their son, Hanson Leatherwood.
All are Frederick Co and CARROLL Co, around Mt. Airy, Woodbine, etc.
My great, great grandfather, Jesse Leatherwood, was born abt. 1823, died 1876. Jesse was popular name w/ the Leatherwoods.

Bill,

I am a descendant of Merriman Gibson Leatherwood from Spartanburg, SC and died in Panola County, MS. Merriman des. from Isaac, and John. My Grandmother, daughter of Merriman, was Rosa Leatherwood who married James Archie Anthony. The latter are also from Panola Co., MS.

I would appreciate knowing if we are of the same Leatherwoods. My John L. was b. 1764 in Prince William Co., VA. Thanks.

I have birth, marriage and death dates for all of Wesley and Eliza Ann's children. Names of many of their children. Also fairly complete info on Minnie H. and Jesse Leatherwoods family for 3-4 generations.

Just got it all entered. Let me know if your interested. If you already have this, I would like to have a copy to confirm my info and update. My source was an informal history by the late Daisy Leatherwood Watkins last updated in 1997.

I am searching for information on an Edward GOSNELL and Elizabeth HARRISON. They lived in the Mt. Airy, MD, area and had a son Clarence Melvin GOSNELL born in 1884. Perhaps this family is connected to the Wesley HARRISON family. Any info will be appreciated.

The parents of Wesley Harrison b 1833, d. 1916 are Nimrod Harrison and Mary Ann Becraft. I have a list of his 12 siblings and most of their spouses and children to present day, if you are interested?
I do not have Edward Gosnell, but do have several Elizabth Harrison's.
There is usually a Gosnell-Davis Family reunion in late August or early September, if anyone lives in the Md region. It is held in Mt Airy.

If this gets through to Mr. Pixley -- I have some information on land patented by Samuel Leatherwood, who died in the early 1820s. I am looking for biographical information on Samuel and his descendants. Thanks.

Hello Hal,

Jesse Leatherwood was my Grand uncle. My grand mother was Carrie Leatherwood Buckingham. I would be interested in the work done by Daisy Leatherwood Watkins. I have descendents of Carrie if you are interested.

Bill - The Harrison-Gosnell tie that I am aware of is the marriage of Lurena/Lurene/ Renie Harrison to Thomas Gosnell, 9-24-1888, all from the Woodbine area of Carroll County. I have a half sister, Mary Jane who is the daughter of Eva Gosnell and William Guy Garheart. Eva Gosnell is the daughter of Thomas and Lurena Gosnell. Minnie Harrison, sister of Lurena was married to Jesse Leatherwood on 12-12-1892. Thomas and Lurena Harrison Gosnell had children Tyson, Georgie, Willard, Claudie, Andrew, Eva, Edna and Jane Gosnell. Hope this answers some of your questions about the Harrison-Gosnell ties.
