I would like to find the maiden name of Waylette or Willet who married Johan George Peter Kaltenrutter (Kaltenreider, Kaltrieder or Coltrider). I know she was born between 1750-60. They christened all of their children in the Reformed Church in Manchester from 1783- 90s). I have checked the various sponsors for these baptisms hoping to find her maiden name, but have not uncovered a relationship. They lived on Maple Grove Road in Manchester purchasing the farm that was originally Boring Meadows and renaming it Caltrider's Fancy. Before that, they lived in Shrewsbury, York, PA from 1774-83.I have not been able to find a marriage record in PA or MD for them. From a Caltrider bible, I have discovered that she died on 13 May 1842 in Maryland.

Hi Nancy,

I may not be a lot of help, but may be able to help get you on track. Her first name may have been "Violet". We believe this was misrecorded by some due to the thick German accent that the early Kaltenreiders had - in a thick German accent, Violet can sound like "Waylette" or "Willet". Unfortunately, I have not been able to find her last name either. Do you know if she is buried with her husband in Mount Zion Churchyard in Freeland, Maryland?

I am interested in the family bible you mentioned. I was not aware that one existed. Are there many recorded births, marriages, deaths, etc. in that bible? Are you in possession of it?

Mike, I am not aware that the husband of Violet was buried at Mt. Zion. I only know that John, the son, and his wife Rachel are buried there. I know that the son, George and his wife Elizabeth were buried on the Maple Grove Farm, along with Daniel. It is my understanding though that this farm was not the same as Caltrider's fancy. This summer I tried to trace the inheritance of Caltrider's Fancy and was much interested to learn of all the parts John pieced together to arrive at the total acreage.
The bible I was referring to was left to Dirk Caltrider who lives in Westminster Maryland.
I really don't know whose bible it was originally. I only looked at it briefly years ago when it was in the possession of Dirk's father, Slade Caltrider

I suspect we are related in some manner. Rosa Belle Coltrider, daughter of Thomas Coltrider and Ruth A. E. Richards, is my great-grandmother.

Charles E. Coltrider and Andres J. Coltrider are Rosa Belle's brothers.

Rosa Belle married my great-grandfather Samuel Wells Shugars in Carroll Co. MD. Samuel's descendants lived in the areas of Hampstead, Westminister, Carroll Co. MD.

Ruth A. E. Richards is a descendant of DAR patriot Richard Richards.
