I am fixing to go out of town until Saturday afternoon. I will get back with you. My aunt Mary Copeland actually documented all of the Hendrick history and it is in the library in Greenwood SC I have been all over SC with her as a child doing research. I have all ways been interested in family history just never had a lot of time to do it. The Hendrick part is my Mother's side of the family. I know a lot more about them than my Dad's. Guess this is my bucket list. Susan

Trying to find information on my grandmother, MARY ELLEN BREEDING, born 1903 and resided in Burrsville/American Corner, MD. Father was Robert L. and mother was Eliza, also listed as Lida and a number of other spellings. I believe her mother may have died giving birth or soon thereafter. My father's family was not close and she died before I was born, so I have very little info and would like to know some background on the Breedings. Any help appreciated!

Jean, I posted the following in the Montague surname, under the subject line David (William) Montague & Mary Pippin & Mary Anne Connolly (circa 1800-1860) - MD, DE, NJ

maybe you can help me:

I am still STUCK (updating this from my former posting)! Trying to find hard data on my G G Grandparents (David and Mary Anne). Marriage records indicate a David Monticue married Mary Pippin in 1835, and then David Monticue married Mary Anne Connelly in 1852. I believe this was the same man, my G G Grandfather. In the 1860 census there were 3 Monticue (later montague) living on Mary Anne's father's farm that would have been from the 2nd marriage, including my G Grandfather David Frank and sisters Rachel & Margarett. There was also a James Monticue living on Mary Anne's brother's farm (probably a child of the first marriage). I have a lot of data on my G Grandparents (David Frank Montague & Friendly Lofton), including a death certificate listing David F's parents as David Montague and Mary Anne Connolly. Mary Anne was 17 in 1850, and was living on her father's (Henry Connolly) farm. In 1860, she is not listed on a census that I can find, and there are 3 Montague children (ages 2, 4, & 6) living with their Grandparents (Henry) on the farm, and another (James ~10-12) living with his Uncle Samuel's family, Mary Anne's brother, 2 farms down the road from Henry's. It appears Mary Anne and David married in 1852, had the children in quick succession, and then David just disappears. Mary Anne it appears, may have remarried, her name as Connolly or Montague (Monticue) does nto apprear again, execpt in record involving a marraige to one Sorden Kinnomon. I'm trying to find some substantiating data to help me to firm up David and David Frank's relationship (father-son), and then find David's roots (i.e. birth place, death, ancestry). I'd appreciate any help, especially if it is documented. Thanks in advance!
Seeking information on Lee Slaughter (aka John Thomas LeeRoy Slaughter) and his family in Maryland.

There is extensive information about Lee Slaughter after his enlistment in the army in 1813. Before that date, however, there is practically nothing. He resided in Baldwin County, Alabama after he retired from the army.

We are direct descendents of Lee and are looking for any information, leads and family connections in Denton and Caroline County Maryland.

Lee enlisted in Denton, Maryland and we believe his family is from the area based on his enlistment record and officer promotion file from the National Archives.

He was previously thought to be from Virginia, but we believe that is now false. There is another active thread on the Virginia message board.
I know that a very prominent (African-American) farmer and landowner in the Greensboro area was Moses Coker who lived to be over 100 I think. No Cokers are listed in the "Beneath these Stones" volumes of Caroline County - so the compilers must have been unaware of the Coker family cemetery which perhaps was on Moses Coker's farm? Possibly the Greensboro Historical Society could be of some help in locating the farm and asking around about a family grave site.

I am looking for any information on a James or Jim Hendrix/Hendricks that was born ca. 1890 in Pickens County, SC. He may have been the son of an unwed Hendrix woman, since I have been unable to locate any male parent with a son that fits the dates on him. He died 29 Jun 1914 in Dacusville, Pickens County, SC. He was murdered in back of a shed on a farm where he lived near the Old Parsons Mill area of Dacusville, SC. (Near Easley).
He was married to an Ethel Smith and they had 3 children: Ruby, Teeny, Wade. After he died, his wife remarried to an Albert Rice. She later raised the children under the Rice name.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Nancy Smith Harrison
I know that your original message was some time ago but I thought I would ask this question: the generally accepted birth date for John Kinnamont was 1640 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland. But, it has been commonly stated that he arrived in Maryland in 1654 with a wife, Anne, and two sons, John and Patrick. It sounds a bit on the imaginary side to think that John had taken a wife and that they had two sons by the time he is 14. Where is my thinking wrong?? Lew

In 1870 there is a Phillip H. Noble b. 1855 living with T. K. and Mary Bartlett in Caroline Co MD. Mary was Mary Noble. Mary's husband, Turbutt K. Is he a son of William Noble and Hester Ann Bartlett?

I think he is Philip Henry Noble.
Zorobable Marian
1765 , Maryland

Marian was born in 1738, died 1823. Farmer, land owner, and owner of a saw and grist mill near Federalsburg which he inherited from his father.

Not sure if this will help you:

From an old memo book dated 1765, used by Zorobable (and now in possession of one of his descendants) has been gleaned the following neighbor and contemporary: NEHEMIAH BEAUCHAMP.

Looks like Nehemiah was living in The Town of Federalsburg located on the Marshyhope Creek in the southern-most part of Caroline County, the heart of the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1765.

Nehemiah bought for 20 pounds, land situated on the west side of the N.W. fork of the Nanticoke River. Deeded by Risdom Moor (could this be Nehemiah's father-in-law?) It was recorded 16 Feb 1773 and delivered to son William Beauchamp on 12 Nov 1772.

24 Mar 1777
As the Testamentary Proceeding record states. Wife Sarah Beauchamp was named as his executor and Lemuel Davis and James Murphy as his surety.

Just saw your post. I have your family connection in my family tree. I have a lot of information on Francis Nichols, his wife Emily and his first wife Martha who was Emily’s sister but died leaving three children raised by Emily & Francis. Emily & Martha were sisters of my great grandmother. Glad to share more. Patti

These few pages were, and have been, my only tangible link to her. I’ve read them over and over, and while they only capture her at a single moment in time they bestow me with just that,a view through a window into her life of some 40+ years ago.

Since then, I’ve tried numerous methods of trying to find her. please if anyone can help it is greatly appreciated.
I'm looking for information and sources on my Montague family line. My G grandfather, David Frank Montague (b. 1858 in Caroline County MD; d. 1926 in Hartly, DE) was living in Caroline county. In the 1860 census he was 2 years old and living on his maternal grandfather's (Henry Connolly) farm (along with his 2 sisters). He was on the same farm in 1870, but now listed as a Connolly. In 1880 he had married my G Grandmother Friendly Lofton, and was still in Caroline County. His deather certificate lists his parents as David Montague and Mary Anne Connolly.

I would like to find info on the David Montague (b. abt 1807 or later) that is my G G Grandfather, and his father (maybe a John Montague). This David may have married before, to a Mary Pippin, and had Montague children with her as well.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Iam looking for my maternal great grandfather Louis Herman Rowe born July 15, 1880 in Sidney, Shelby Co., Ohio.
I know the following about him.
I know he was an only child of Samuel Row and Amanda Cheesman . I know his Dad died when Herman was but 15 years old. His mother raised him until he married my Great Grandmother Florence Alma Daniels on Feb 1, 1903 in Allen Co., Ohio. I have a copy of their license to marry .
I know he and Florence had a family in Sidney, Ohio consisting of 2 sons Franklin Robert Rowe and Herman C. Francis Rowe and that both sons died and are buried in unmarked graves near the Sextons Building in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Shelby Co., Ohio
I believe my Great Grandfather was an uneducated man since he worked as a butler and also as a butcher to support his family .
After the youngest son Herman C. Francis died Dec .22, 1911 I believe Louis may have suffered some mental break down and left his family . He was not seen nor heard of by them for many years until the Great Depression.
At that time his oldest daughter , my maternal grandmother Mary Rose Rowe/ Gross was married to George Daniel Gross Sr. and the family resided in a large home together with her father in law and sister in laws family in Battle Creek, Calhoun Co., Michigan.
When Louis out of the blue showed up to see his daughter . So , I know he was alive then , as to where he was living , working or if he had remarried I do not know . Mary never said and she has long since passed away .
I am more than willing to pay you for documented proof of his where abouts and when he died so I may end the long 39 year search .
Marsha Fenstermacher / Binkley
I am on facebook and it may be easier to contact me there also under my married name of Binkley

She was the daughter of James H Webb and Sara Webb all from Caroline County. I believe James may have died around or after 1930.
