Elphege Dubois, 74, of Summer Street died Sunday at Southern Maine Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born in Rock Forest, Quebec, a son of Josephat and Eva Grenier Dubois, came to Biddeford in 1924 and attended local schools.
On Aug. 23, 1941, he married Laurette Labarre at St. Andre's Church.
Mr. Dubois served in the Army during World War II, earning his wings as a paratrooper. He worked as a lumberjack in Maine, New Hampshire and New York, until an injury forced him to retire in 1951.
He was a communicant of St. Andre's Church, and a member of the Biddeford Eagles Aerie.
Surviving are his wife of Biddeford; three sons, Robert of Waterboro, Raymond of Orlando, Fla., and Ralph of Hollis Center; two daughters, Marie of Biddeford and Susan of Waterboro; two brothers, Roger of Canton, Ohio, and Conrad of Texas; four sisters, Dolores of Biddeford, Blanche of Florida and Rita and Gail , both of Connecticut; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at St. Andre's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.
