I think you'd be surprised by a return trip to Eastport. Vibrant arts community, most storefronts open in summer, interesting year rounders and summer folks; active historical and social organizations; weeklong Fourth celebration; Pirate Festival; highly rated Mexican restaurant, Greek restaurant, fancy restaurants, seafood places; high end crafts and art; water taxis; have had great whale watching years lately; starting this summer will be a cruise line destination; active commercial port, with new huge inside lobster storage, wood pellet storage for international shipping; tidal generator about to hook into grid. Terrific museums and genealogy resources in the area. Incomparable beauty, on the cheap and not crowded! Anyone reading this feel free to add more plusses I've missed. I have to come home to Bangor area to rest up! Main problems are the remoteness, though you're not far from fast food and Walmart, to give an indication; scarce well paying jobs and not enough positive things for kids to do - not much different from most other places. Turn the remoteness into a positive: not far from Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton
