Are you still seeking information? Your query on RootsWeb/Ancestry is rather dated now.

If you are, the published records of St. Francis de Sales Church in Waterville (vol. 1; Robert Chenard) state on p. 173 that Napoleon "Paul" Morin was son of Jean Morin & Lucie Paquet and that he married 9 August 1897 Ida-Etta Boucher (daughter of Zephrin and Marie Boucher).

Bob Chenard (compiler) is probably the best French-Canadian genealogist in the area. His web site (google: <"french connection" chenard> contains a lot of information and you really ought to browse through it. Bob has several books of transcribed F-C records and they should be listed on the site. If your ancestors came from Beauce County (as most French-Canadians in this area did), he has records to trace you way back. Using Bob as a source, Cindy Spaulding has done this on her site "WatervilleGenalogy".

I am in Fairfield (adjacent to Waterville) and have access to records here but I am guessing that it is the earlier records that you want.

Are you still looking after all this time? According to Robert Chenard's "Marriage Record of St. Francis de Sales", Pierre Paquet (son of Eustache Paquet & Sophie Genessee) married 4 Aug 1889 Louise Belanger (dau. Octave Belanger & Regina "Jane" Ouelette). I think you ought to browse Bob Chenard's website "the French Connection").

Incidentally, Vital Records of Fairfield, Maine adds another child: Joseph Saloman Paquet, born 4 Aug 1892.

~Barbara Gunvaldsen

In Dec 1853, she married Sennah Wentworth Tabor (Taber) at Gardiner, Maine.
On 6 November 1913, their daughter, Lovina Elizabeth Tabor Katon Johnson, died in Everett, Massachusetts.
On the off chance that this information could help someone, here are the names and dates of the persons signing autographs in my great uncle’s book in the 1880-1888 time period in Cornville, Somerset, Maine.
Blanch A. Messer – Aug. 24, 1885
Dell Amazeen – Aug. 18, 1880
Bertha L. Messer – Oct. 22, 1888
Georgia Bean – Dec. 13, 1888
Eula A. Bean – Dec. 9, 1888
Herbert E. Blaisdell – Dec 27, 1888
Jeannette Swain – Jun 19, 1888
Addie E. Warren – Dec. 13, 1888
Mrs. F. P. Malbon – July 14, 188. [I think she was the teacher, but I’m not sure why she didn’t complete the date. She also signed “Skowhegan, Maine”.]
The owner of the book was Adelbert “Bert” Alton Palmer, b.1 Nov 1873 in Skowhegan, son of Sullivan and Melissa Bean Palmer. I’d be happy to scan a page, or pages, for anyone related to the above.

Interesting info at Brick Store Museum too!

Feel free to contact me at samurray1313@gmail.com if you'd like. Murray Family Tree is the A.com info I've collected.

Stephanie Murray
I am trying to determine who the father of my great-grandfather was, and I feel as if I will never know.

My great-grandfather, Frank, was born an illegitimate child to Mary Emma Martin of Canaan, he was born June 16, 1875. Mary Emma Martin would marry two years later to Thomas J. Brooks of West Waterville, but recent developments determine that Thomas J. Brooks was not Frank's biological father. Does anybody have any suggestions at all? or have I officially ended my genealogical research on my paternal side?

Hi Ben, I do not have much new on Reuben but he was in Brighton in 1880 census. Betsy married John S. Smart on 20 Oct 1844 and they had 3 children. John took off and left his family in 1849, Betsy filed for divorce on 10 Dec 1862. Not sure if Reuben had been married before or if he and Betsy raised the family. Haven't figured that out yet.
Sandy

Hosea is not listed in the book.

Shubael is listed three times. One regarding his wife's death, and two regarding the deaths of Ambrose and Edward. Betsey was listed just that one time, the same listing as Schubael.

There is one notice about about a marriage intention (but there are no actual marriage intentions in the book) for a name transcribed as Ambrose I. Pease in 1849, and, for some unknown reason, two widely seperated marriage intentions more than a decade later, to another woman, but with a transcribed different middle initial for Ambrose: Ambrose J. Pease. And those last two were regarding getting married to an apparent widow, as indicated by the "Mrs." before her name.

My guess is that considering the likely sloppy handwriting and the likely faded ink, and maybe a misunderstanding, that all three Ambroses are referring to the same person, whose first wife probably died.

I have no explanation for the 14 or 15 months between the two later marriage intention notices to the same woman. That's your job :)

There is also a notice of a marriage intention for Edward.

There is one death mention for Ambrose, and two for Edward.

Sybil and Sarah were not in this book.

There are no divorce records in this book.

For some unknown reason, this message board is refusing to accept the photo I am trying to attach, so I posted it online, where you can copy it:

http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/5071/pease.jpg

Thank you so very much for your kindness Larry. I am looking for the death of John Smart and his wife (or ex wife) Loemma. John was born in NH and last found in the 1830 Norridgewock census.

I said ex-wife because I think he remarried and had two children in Norrigewock both before 1830.

Again thank you for keeping genealogy free.
Larry,

Thanks so much for this generous offer!

I am looking for Hosea W. Pease. I believe he was born in Norridgewock around 1815. He was the son of Shubael and Betsey Washburn Pease. Some of his siblings names were Ambrose, Sybil, Sarah, and Edward. I would also be interested if your book offers divorce records. I have heard that Shubael and Betsey divorced late in their marriage (unsure of the date). It is also believed that both of them died and are buried in Norridgewock.

I would appreciate any information that you could offer me on this family.

Thanks again for your help!

Lynn Wells

It's good that you gave me those family members, because that gives me more to go on. But I looked through the index for all people named Sampson or Samson, and none of those people were in the book. I was hoping to find some good info, but I couldn't. But everybody, keep the requests coming.

I have the book "Vital records of Norridgewock, Maine", printed in 2008. It contains a lot of transcriptions of old records from Norridgewock, but no photographs of documents or anything else.

It has a lot that I haven't seen elsewhere, but also, it does NOT have some records that I have found elsewhere.

Great items it has are listings of many or all of the children born to a certain pair of parents. Too bad for me, that after I bought this expensive book, the listing for my family seems to be the only one in the book where it says : [blank]

I had some of that info, but of course, I wanted to get what I am missing, and what I may be missing.

There are also transcriptions of statements saying that on this date, these two people had their marriage intentions published. The text from the actual intentions are not in this book. I have not seen those elsewhere. There are thousands of these, as well as marriage record transcriptions, from 1792 to 1891. Those comprise the bulk of the book.

There are also births and deaths. The births go back as far as the 1790s. The deaths go from 1774 to 1891. There are some missing years.

Again, you can be sure that not every single death that happened during that time period is included, and what there is, is missing some of the info.

Of course, not every record originally kept has survived. Some pieces of information get the dreaded [blank].

Post the names and dates you are interested in. If I find what is, or may be, your people, I will post a photo of what I find that you can download and save, if you want.

Thanks, Larry.

I have discovered in the mean time that Charles Taylor Folsom was born in nearby Leeds, Androscoggin, Maine on 1 Aug 1808, the son of Gordon Folsom (1788-1813) and Nancy Taylor, who was born in London, England. I don't have a birth or death date for her.

I realize this probably isn't of interest to you, but I'm putting it here in case someone else is following the same trail I did.

Charles T. Folsom was married in Norridgewock, but me may not have been born there, and none of his children seem to have been born there.

I have the book "Vital records of Norridgewock, Maine", printed in 2008. The only entries of any kind for Charles is a transcription of a marriage intention, and a marriage record, below. The names of his children are not listed in this book at all. So my guess it that he moved away from Norridgewock before having children.

Yes. The first one is his marriage to my gggg-grandmother. I have the original of that. The second is not him. Do you have access to those records, or did you happen to find it somewhere?

Charles T. Folsom (1831 - 22 Dec 1861) Killed in Civil War
Charles E Folsom (1 Aug 1833 - 10 May 1919)
Lucy Gilman Folsom (27 Apr 1835 - 18 Jun 1916)
Mary Elizabeth Folsom ( b 1837) Don't know who married or death date.
Lorenzo Judkins "Lew" Folsom (19 Mar 1840 - 17 Dec 1918)
Ann M Folsom (27 Nov 1842 - 19 Aug 1899)

All were born in Somerset County, but so far I have no birth records for any of them.

Thanks for letting me know. I live in Wisconsin, but perhaps I can talk a researcher at the library into taking a peek for me. :)

My ggg-grandmother was born in Norridgewock on 7 August 1803 so I would think that your ancestor would be noted if he indeed was born there. If you live in Maine I can tell that the Maine State Library, in Augusta, has a copy of the Vital Records of Norridgewock.

Hi Barbara, Sorry so long in responding. I sent an email to your email address. I am now building a family tree for the Chorba family, so I would appreciate any contact with your stepmother. I am Mae Patrick's (Mary Chorba Patrick) grandson. Regards, Eric John Ericson

Norridgewock Birth Records

Does anyone have an idea of when the birth records for Norridgewock or Somerset County begin? My ancestor Charles T Folsom was born in 1808 and I'm not sure if it's worth it to ask someone to look for his birth record or if 1808 is too early for such a thing to exist.

Thanks!
