Hi,

My g-grandmother Philomene Laney died in 1902 in Skowhegan. On her death certificate it states that she was handled by undertaker A. Gilblair. I would like to know if any one has any information of this undertaker. Was he associated with a funeral home? If so which one? What about cemetaries? I would like to know what the names of the cemetaries are in skowhegan to find out more information.

Thanks Michele Baker in Texas

Skowhegan cemetaries are Calvary cemetary, Northside cemetary and I thik Southside cemetaries. The Laney's I knew of in Skowhegan were probably burried in Calvary cemetary on North Avenue.

Parts of Skowhegan used to be part of Norridgewock, where I live. I will check today at the Norridgewock Historical Society to see if there are any references to Laney in our cemeteries.

Hi,
A. Gilblair was my great great grandfather. His first name was Adolph. He probably used Calvary Cemetery on North Avenue in Skowhegan, associated with the Catholic church. The other cemetery at that time would be South Side Cemetery on Main Street. Hope this information is helpful. June

more then likely the town office would know who and what Funeral Homes were in the area in 1902.

try the town of Skowhegan.
