Yes, I have been trying to trace the family of William J. Rockett and wife Harriet. I can't find when Richard S. Rockett died or where buried. His wife died in 1922 and I know was buried at Taylor Academy.

It is in Webster Parish in northwestern Louisiana. It is located somewhere near Springhill, I am told. I don't know if it is actually in Springhill or just near it. I know that Mattie E. Roper Rockett (1851-1922) was buried there from her death certificate.

According to Cemetery Inscriptions of Webster Parish, Louisiana Volume I, there are no Rocketts listed in Taylor Academy Cemetery. The survey of the cemetery was done in 1986. According to this same book, the cemetery is "Located in Section 19 Township 23 Range 10, approx 2.25 miles southeast of Springhill in Webster Parish. On north side of Webster Parish Road #228." There is a partial listing of the cemetery on the Webster Parish GenWeb site. Look under "Cemeteries surveyed by Mrs. L.E. Coyle Collins." There are only a few graves listed but it does give some additional information about the cemetery.

Taylor Academy Cemetery is a small cemetery located outside Springhill, La. and near Cullen. It is not well maintained, although there is now a large, modern sign along the road to identify it. There are only a few graves with markers, but it seems that many persons are buried there dating back to the 1800s. My GGgrandfather, Henry J. Taylor, and his wife, Frances Pope, are reportedly buried there. Until a few years ago their graves were unmarked, but family members decided to place a marker on their graves. Supposedly the benefactor and the namesake of the Taylor Academy was William Taylor (along with his wife, Levice Elizabeth Jane (LEJ) Hartzog), who died on 5 October 1856. The grounds were originally used for a school until 1911, hence the academy name. When William Taylor died a small section of the grounds were set aside for family burial. LEJ Taylor died on 27 October 1898 and was buried next to her husband. Theirs is the most prominent of the old gravestones, although they are badly deteriorated. I am not away of any listing of all those buried at Taylor Academy Cemetery.
