We have a copy of the marriage license of David M. Phillips and Mrs. Frances Burton Ward dated June 1, 1897, signed June 2, 1897, recorded June 26, 1897. The signatures were D. M. Phillips and Frances A. Burton. We would like to know the name of Frances Burton's father and her first husband named Ward. We have been told that her mother was a Native American, but can't say for sure. We have also been told that she had inherited a farm from either her husband or father, and we would like to know if anyone has any clue from either a census or land record as to who and where these people were around the turn of the century. We heard that the farm was lost due to nonpayment of taxes, but don't know the time frame for sure. David M. Phillips is my dad's dad by a subsequent marriage following Frances's death. He was living around Lillie LA after his 2nd marriage for a while.
