I am researching the
Champagne families--any info on any of the following members is greatly appreciated. Both my maternal great-grandparents were Champagnes: Leo and Helene
Champagne. They lived in the area of
Theriot,
Terrebonne Parish,
La. I only have fragmented information about my great-grandparents and their grandchildren as follows:
a.Great-great-grandparents: Leo
Champagne and Anita? (uncertain of wife’s name or maiden name). Children: 2 known- Leo and
Honore.
b.Great-grandparents: Leo
Champagne (named after his father) and Helene
Champagne (
Champagne was also her maiden name; her parents first names are unknown). Birthdates unknown; believed to be about 1880-1890. Unknown marriage date; believed to be between 1890-1900s. They had 12 children.
c.Children of great-grandparents, only known birth dates are for my grandmother
Lydie and her twin Lydia:
Helen, Married ? “Buck”
Crochet. 1 daughter: Mary Helen, m ? “PeeWee”
Voisin.
Joe or Joseph, died of tuberculosis in his 20s.
John, no information.
Vital, World War I veteran. 1 daughter: Jo Anne or Joanne.
Irene and Corrine, twin daughters.

Calise Hidalgo. Children:
Calise, Jr; Leo, Earl, “Beth” and Elma? or Alma?, m. Edgar
Barrow (sp), 2 sons, unknown names.
Felice “Fee.”
Eleanor/Elinor/Elenore, m. ? Robinson. Sons: Sam “Sammy” and Ray, both of
Theriot,
La.
Nolan/Noland.
Lydia and
Lydie, twins, born 9 October 1909. Lydie, my grandmother, info per her baptismal register extract, dated 23 October 1909, from St. Eloi Catholic Church,
Theriot, La.: her godfather was
Honore Champagne, brother of Leo, and her godmother was Zulama
Champagne, unknown relationship, believed to be Helene’s sister.
