De L'Etoile later went on to be L'Etoile and then L'Italien and then Litalien and then Starr... Anybody with any information or advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

I have an I'talien in my family line. She was my great grandmother her name was Caroline. She was born in Canada but later migrated to Fall River Ma. She married an Ovila Paul in 1904and had several children. This is a hard name to search. Let me know if you find anything out. Thank you..

In reply to your inquiry there is a family association headed by Daniel De L'Etoile who resides in Quebec, Canada. His e-mail address is ddeletoile@fqm.ca and he is a world of information. We celebrated the 250th anniversary of the marriage of the ancestor Bonaventure de l'Etoile De Italien in the new world three years ago in Quebec, Canada at the Citadel overlooking the Saint Lawrence Seaway. Since the arrival of the ancestor was from a port in Italy the De Italien was perhaps an identifier of where he was from rather then a true family name but that is up for debate in my mind.

My grandfather was Arthur Starr. He changed his name from Joseph Arthur L'Etoile. Was born in Quebec. His father was Joseph and his mother was Ovilive Noel I believe. He had an uncle Aguste and his wife was Elizabeth Desmarais. They settled in Rhode Island

Pierre Paul and Marie Cantara had Malina, Madeleine,Roseanna, William and Ovila. Ovila Paul married Caroline L'Italien. Her father Octave de L'Etoile de L'Italien and mother was Aglae Plante. I believe that Octave's father also was Octave, married Marguerite Gonthier. I read some where that when the L'Etoile came from Italy they added the de L'Italien, meaning the Etoile's from Italy. My broken branch and Wall is the Paul's up. Any help out there?

My mother, Florence Deschenes was born in 1921 to Philip Deschenes and Emma L'Italien in Quebec. I seem to recall a town called Three Rivers? At some point they moved to Maine and then to Hartford, CT. with their eight children. I know that my grandmother had at least two sisters, Hortence and Elise and a brother, George. I'm sure that there were other siblings but that is all of the information that I can recall.
