In the obituary for his son Robert A. Herr, it states that Robert is buried in the New Beulah Baptist Cemetery. I'm sure that is the same one for Frank. It is one of the larger cemeteries in Baptist. Here is the link for the obits for both Frank and son Robert. http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/tangipahoa/obits/obitssur/h...
Baptist Cemetery in Baptist, Louisiana?

I just found the record for a request for a military headstone for one of my great-uncles who died in Louisiana. The request stated the headstone would be placed in "Baptist Cemetery" and the consignee's address was Hammond, Louisiana. Looking up Baptist, Louisiana, I found it located in Tangipahoa Parrish. But there's no listing for a Baptist Cemetery there in any of the places I've looked (Tangipahoa Parrish genweb, Find A Grave). Anyone ever heard of it? Frank Herr is the name of my great-uncle.

Did you ever find any information on his parents? I'm having a very hard time locating their names. From what I've gathered from other family members both of his parents died in New Orleans from yellow fever, but can't find anything else. Some Census records say his father is from Pennsylvania while others say Louisiana. Tom C was my great, great grandfather.

Thanks!

I am a descendant of William. This family was in Tangipahoa Parish (I think in the part that was originally Livingston Parish) by 1860. I have not yet been able to find out much about Robert or Elizabeth, and do not know who any of their parents are.

For the other poster - this John McGinty never lived in Morehouse Parish, and his wife was not named Mary, but Nancy.

Well, it. looks like we may be 1st cousins 1x removed +/-. If so then your mother, Maria Pastor was Lewis Freemen's 3rd wife.
My Father, Edward, was a younger brother of Ray Madison Allen. They grew up in Independance, LA. Ray married Anne and moved to Chicago. My father followed in a few years later. Then Ray moved to New Jersey where he died in 1934.
If this is the right match let's trade information. I have lots of information on the Allen's back to South Carolina in 1745 and some information to descendants of one of Ray's other wives.

I live in Berkeley, CA. How about you.

Glad to hear from you.

Bob Allen

Julius Brint or Brent - Big Zion Cemetery

I was reading an old newspaper yesterday:
The Times-Picayune, Sunday, December 22, 1918, Page B-7 (22), bottom of column 7
In an article about the Arcola Red Cross, was mentioned the death of "Uncle" Julius Brint in Arcola. It stated that he was born in August 1821. Before the war, he was a slave of Leslie Bankston. He died on Thursday, December 19, 1918. He was buried at Big Zion Cemetery in Roseland.
I can't find Julius Brint on any census, and no death record. There are Brents in Big Zion, so maybe his name should have been spelled Brent. Still, I find no records.
So, if ever anyone is looking for Julius Brint, I leave this information here for them.

I last find record of my 2X ggrandparents John W. Crausby and Lydia Ann (Annie) Rushing Crausby in the 1900 census living in Tangipahoa Parish (Jury ward 6) with their son Benjamin Lafayette Crausby. I am interested in what became of them after this time I do not have death dates or locations or burial dates or locations and would love to learn where they are buried. Both Crausby's were born in 1833 and the name has been variously seen as Crausby Crausbay Crausbey Crosby and Crawsby. Benjamin and his wife Alice Stevens are buried in Mt Stevens Cem. in Hammond but no record of John and Annie there either.

I am looking for where Andrew Amerson is buried. He was born February 25, 1886, probably Mississippi. He died August 1969 in Hammond. He moved to Hammond to live with his daughter after his wife, Clara, died in Mississippi, probably Reform, Choctaw County. Wherever he is buried, his daughter might be buried, too. He is not on findagrave and I have checked local Hammond funeral homes and cemeteries that have not contacted me back yet. Please help me, I live in Tennessee and have no way of personally looking.

Seeking information on Ross Dillow (b.1893, Union Co., IL) and ?3rd wife, Iva. Last known residence Hammond, LA, in 1940. No further information on either one. Ross was my mother's uncle and was the "black sheep" of the family. Step-children listed as Jack and Mary Aughey Gautier. LA statewide death index has a Ross Dillow death date as 12 Nov 1949 in Tangipahoa Parish, but he is listed as "negro". Of course, this could be wrong, as the 1940 census has him listed as "white", which he was. Birthdates similar. My mom would like to know what became of him.

Looking for any information (spouses, parents, children, births and deaths, history, and dates) on these families from 1808-present, want to go as far back as I can go. I’m researching my Johnson family and descendants. My ggggrandfather was Hanson Johnson married to Lucinda Wainwright, trying to fill in the blanks from about 1808 to today. Also does anyone have information on Thomas Johnson born 1839, Howell Johnson born 1841 and Caswell Johnson born 1847, three of Hanson’s sons. Family names are Johnson, Wainwright, Harper, Galender, Gainey, Dunnington, Joiner, Lanier. Albin, Arnold, Cannon..The last three names are married names of Hanson and Lucinda Johnson's daughters..There are many other family names, If any one has any information about Hanson and Lucinda and/or these families, it would greatly appreciated. Also looking for any Family Bibles, history, stories, old photos, documents ect.
Thank you for any information you might have.
Brad
tigers1484@yahoo.com

So sorry for the delayed response. I haven't been on ancestry for some time.
The ledger books from what I recall give of course the deceased name, date of death, where they are buried and basically who paid the funeral bill.

Hope that is of some help.
Kim

Hi. John Ellis grandson of George Mathew Ellis. I too have been searching for Great-Grandfather and have found numerous marriage and death notices for the my grandfather's family but nothing for Great-Grandfather. I found great-grandmother's resting place and dates of death and burial which are wrong in RootsWeb.

I even went over to Roseland 2 weeks ago because I had found mention of a Ellis Cemetery on Ellis Road. (Apparently there were a lot of Ellis' in Roseland, even a famous one but not a direct relative of mine.) Unfortunately the cemetery is behind a locked gate and all grown over but I'm going to try and contact the parish administration to see who is charge of it and maybe get more info. I only have a short time left here in Louisiana and will be returning to California soon.

If you still need info about some other relatives that I can help with, let me know. I know your post was 10 years ago and maybe you've already found out everything you need, in which case, you could maybe fill me in on some of the family I'm looking for.

John Ellis
