I grew up in Amite and Hammond. I know quite a few Laniers from the Amite area. Most are descendents of Lee Lanier and many have passed on.

My great aunt was Myrtle Wainwright Varnado from Bolivar. Her daughter, Marian Phillips, lives there at this time. Let me know if I can be of any help.
