Is this man the Baptiste ANGELIQUE who in 1881 served as an informant to Dr. Albert Samuel Gatschet of the Bureau of American Ethnology, Smithsonian Institution, concerning Chitimacha language and antiquities? Gatschet estimated him to be approximately 20 years older than the census indicated. Is it possible that he was a son or grandson of Angelique MASSE who in 1814 sold land "in the area of the Chetimachas" that she had inherited from her father, Leveille Masse, fpc?
