Hello Julia!!!

Julia Burcard Thomas was my Great Great Grandmother. Her father, according to the slave schedule, was her slave owner, Jean Frederic Burcard. After the Civil War when able to sign a sensus Julie signed herself off as mulatto, though her husband Pierre Thomas was Black.

It is said that "Juliee" related to the Burcards when set free, afthe the Civil War. In her last days she said she wanted to go to Destrehan "to be with her people."

Lets talk. Reach me at lakesidetrombone@aol.com

Stanford J. Carter Jr.

Juliee Burcard (Julia Thomas on 1880 Census),was an unlisted name on 1850 slave schedule, with 16 other slaves.

Names of slave holders were Burcard & Bethancourt, Gean Bethancourt and Jean Frederic Burcard. Some slaves were probably named Bethancourt, related? Maybe.

Thank you for the reply. I have a copy of this book and have obtained lots of info from it.

Jean Francois Piseros had a third wife that is not listed in the records. Genevieve Labranche, Widow Alexander Baure, his third wife, died prior to 1800 according to records. In the 1804 census of St. Charles, he had a wife and daughter. The daughter is Cephise Piseros, who married Louis Labranche. I think his third wife, who would be the mother to both Cephise and Jean Francois III, is a Bernoudy. According to a marriage contract for Eulalie Bernoudy and Godefroi Boudousquie, Francois Piseros was present as well Bernoudy Piseros, Bernoudy Charbonnet and Bernoudy Fortier. I know that Bernoudy Charbonnet and Bernoudy Fortier is referring to Alexandrine Bernoudy and Heloise Bernoudy. This leaves me to believe that possibly Celeste or Jeanne Marie Bernoudy was his wife. This marriage contract was dated 1809. They are all daughters of Bernard Bernoudy.

Any additional help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm hoping once I get to the library that the Abstracts fo Civil Records for 1804- will have the clues I need.

Migrated south in the 1940's and a known address was 24 Holster Ln. St. Rose,LA. He died in May 1992. Looking for any survivors and understood he had three daughters. Had a brother Zoltan who died here in South Bend in 1998. Distant relatives of these brothers in Vienna Austria had contacted the South Bend Red Cross to inquire what happened to this family since communication ceased when the father, Louis, of these individuals died in 1962.

I'm trying to get hold of a couple of obituaries. I have found some of the ones I'm looking for indexed at http://www.usgwarchives.org/la/orleans/_tpi.htm

However, I don't know how to get the actual obituary or at least the information on it.

Stinson, Floyd Forrest
Times-Picayune, 1988.04.17

Goodman, Opal Alice
Times-Picayune, 1985.11.13

Stinson, Alfred
Times-Picayune, 1973.05.17

Guillot, Wendelin 'Windy' Stinson
Times-Picayune, 2000.04.30

Stinson, Roger Dale
Times-Picayune, 1996.08.07

Does anyone know how to get the obituaries?

I live in Norway so I'm unable to visit any local libary.

Thank you!

Re: Kinler and Belsom Family of St. Charles Parish, Louisiana

I have an extensive amount of information I have collected on the Kinler and Belsome families in St. Charles Parish. Much of the information you have requested I have found in the Library in Luling (Mimosa) public library. I am very interested in geneology, but have not had the time to put it all together. The information I have goes all the way back to Sweden, which is where the Kinler family originated from in the early 1700's. I grew up in Ama, LA and it is easy to track my family since my father's name was Drauzin and father's name was Drauzin. The belsome children you mentioned were the sister and brother of Pamela Belsome, who married Drauzin Kinler in the 1850's. We still live on the land that there father (I have his name just can't recall right now) gave to his three daughters to live on. The street is called Belsome St. in Ama, LA. The land is 60 ft. wide by 2 1/2 miles long.

Thank you so much in responding to my old query. Since that time, I have found out Henry's mother's maiden name was HORTON and I've been able to track her ancestors back to Massachusetts and England in the early 1600s.

Austin was on my list of possibilities, too.

Your post alerted me that I neglected to post my findings here, as I've done with other threads. So for clarification, here it goes:

Henry's parents were Blanche C. HORTON and Wendell GEORGE, both natives of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and first cousins. Henry's mother was the sister of Blanche's father.

Wendell was the son of Elizabeth HORTON, daughter of Daniel HORTON and Betsey LEWIS, both from Massachusetts. The HORTONs are descendants of William MORSE who immigrated to Newbury, Massachusetts in 1635 from Wiltshire, England.

Wendell's father was Israel L. GEORGE (sometimes written as Lewis GEORGE) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. No other information is known on the GEORGE ancestors.

Blanche C. HORTON was a daughter of Daniel HORTON (Jr), native of New Jersey and Lucy Ann CRISSY, native of Philadelphia. Daniel died in 1900 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Lucy died in 1926 in Pensacola, Florida where she had been living near another daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth HORTON and William E. MYERS since just after Daniel's death.

Blanche C. HORTON married a man surnamed WALLACE and they lived in Corpus Christi and Kerrville, Texas in the 1920s and 1930s. Blanche died May 1945 and is buried in Biloxi Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi, near her daughter and son-in-law, Nellie GEORGE and Harry Clayton MABRY.

Blanche and Wendell were the parents of about 10 children, seven known by name, at least three living to adulthood. Daughter Nellie is thought to have lived longest, into her 80s. It is still uncertain when and where Wendell died.

If anyone is related to this family in some way, or would like more information, please contact me. Thanks to everyone who has been so kind to assist me in my never-ending search for my GEORGE ancestors. They are an elusive bunch. There are still many pieces of the puzzle to be discovered.
