Several years ago I traveled to Cheneyville to search cemeteries in the town. I was disappointed that I did not locate the grave of William Fendin Cheney, who founded Cheneyville about 181o or so. I have a vested interest in this Cheney Family as William and the brothers who followed him to Mississippi and on into Louisiana were brothers of my 4th greatgrandfather John Cheney who remained in Beaufort District of South Carolina (this is in the black Swamp area of what is now Jasper County, SC)

I have searched to see if I have any cousins in the Rapides Parish area, or some link as to what happened to the cheney Family there. William Fendin, David, Thomas Green and Hamption Johnson Cheney all were in Rapides at that time period.

I located William Franklin Cheney (Son of William Fendin) grave in the Old Cheney Cemertery close to down toen Cheneyville. Saddly I did not locare any kinsmen.
