Thank you for your quick response! I know it's been a while, and I was really taking a shot in the dark when I asked you, but I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. I'll look up the library in New Roads and see if they can email or send me a copy somehow.

Thanks for your time!

It's been so long since I researched this family that I don't really remember much about any of them. I am not a descendant. I gave a copy of the picture to some of the doctor's relatives and also to the library in New Roads, LA. In fact I may have even given the original photo to the library. I searched for it on my computer but can't find it.
Hopefully one of the other sources mentioned can help you.

Hi Pam,

I was wondering if there was any way you could email me any pictures or information you may have on Dr. Julien Ludovic Ladmirault and his wife Virginie Belonge. They are my great x 4 grandparents, and i'm tryign to trace my family's lineage back as far as possible....i don't have any pictures of anyone yet, so i'm really trying to start with Dr. Ladmirault since he seems to be the easiest person to find online.

Thank you so much!

Hi psulzer47,

Is there any way you can send me via email a copy of the picture you have of Dr. Julian Ludovic Ladmirault? He is my great x 4 grandfather and i'm trying to trace my family's lineage back to France (or as far back as i can go)From what i know, he was born in 1812 in Nantes, France. He migrated here to America (Pointe Coupee Parish to be exact) and started a practice as the town's Physician. That's abotu all i know, besides the fact that one of his son's is my great, great, great grandfather. I hope you still have the picture, i see it's been a while since your last post!

Thanks!
Is Abel one of Adolph(e)'s siblings?

I am one of Henry DeCoux's grandaughters. Most of us live on the west coast. In an effort to find Henry's family I traveled to Louraeville, LA in 2007 and found the family crypt behind the church in that town. There is a faded list in the parrish office that shows who is buried there including Adolph(e) and perhaps Florestine. We have various stories surrounding the mysterious Florestine and we are wondering if anyone can tell us if her full name was Octivie Florestine Vaughn. If so we can move on.

Adolph's father Leo is in the crypt. His father and mother were Leonard De Coux and Zoe Cerement Bouth. Leonard's father and mother were Hilaire DeCoux and Emilee DeCur. In my research I found that DeCur was an alternate spelling of DeCoux and have alwasy assumed Hilaire married a cousin.

Hope some of this is helpful.

Hi, I've tried to email you a couple times to see if you would be so kind to give me a copy of this death certificate, but my emails keep coming back to me. I've been trying to sort the mystery of the "Three Celanie Davids" for years. Celanie David is my Great Great Great Grandmother. I would appreciate any info you can give me. I've hit a brick wall a couple years back. The Celanie who was my Great Great Great Grandmother did indeed have a mother by the name of Aspasie David, and a father by the name of Pierre Simon David. My Great Great Great Grandfather was Gustave Robic. They were married and had several children, but I don't recognize the name Marcellus as being one of them. Gustave died in 1865. He was a Confederate Sergeant in the Civil War. I don't know too much about either of them, and would appreciate any help at all. I'm hoping to one day find pics of them, somehow. Thanks so much.
I have the same gg grandparents the information I have is that the father of Veronique was Belomine Major b. 1780 his father WAS Etienne Major b.1746, d.1822 here's where it gets dicy-Etienne's father was Guillaume Bosseron/Bouton married to Catherine Cheval. Supposedly he was a French Major thus the use of the name Major was introduced.
You are correct Hortense and Veronique were 1st cousins both namde Major. Hortense's father was Pierre Vallery Major.
You may already have this information since you posted years ago, if not I hope it solves some misteries for you.
Regards,
Marsha White

It is possible that the census taker wrote down the wrong month for George. I've seen that so many times on census. Not only do they write the wrong month, but most of the time they write the wrong year.
Ciphael & Victorin were married April 20, 1891.
George Pourciau was born Nov.15, 1890
he was baptized April 15, 1891.

Perhaps you are right about that. But, there is no way to ever verify that !! Perhaps if you order thte microfilm for his baptismal record, it may offer more. It's certainly worth a try.

I find it odd that they would baptize their child 5 days before they are actually married.

You may be right, but the census records show that George A. Pourciau was born in October 1890, not November. I also notice the baptism date you have in your records is April 1891. Coincidentally, Rose Major Aguillard, George's mother died in late March, 1891. It is highly possible the the Pourciau's took baby George at this time and had him baptized as their own. He was after all only about 6 months old.

And also curiously, the only person in the Pourciau household, including all the parents and children that is listed with a middle initial on the 1900 census record is George, and his middle initial also happens to be A.---for Aguillard. It seems mighty strange that he is the only person for whom a middle initial was listed.

I still think this is George Aguillard, as I can find no later evidence of a George Pourciau born in 1890. If you can prove me wrong, I'm certainly open to it, but for now I'm sticking to my guns.

John, I checked the diocese records. Victorine Pourciau and Marie Ciphael Pourciau did in fact have a son named George Pourciau. Born Nov. 15, 1890. So, the George on the 1900 census cannot be George Aguillard.
Ciphael Pourciau & Victor Pourciau were indeed 2nd cousins, and were married April 20, 1891. (after the birth of your George)

Chip, I know its been a while, but I have actually finally located my George Aguillard in the census living with the Pourciau family in Pointe Coupee in the 1900 census.

I found a George A. Pourciau listed as being born in October 1890 (which is when George Aguillard was born) living in the household of Victorin Pourciau and Marie Ciphael Pourciau (maiden name also Pourciau!) Marie Ciphael was the niece of Rosa Major Aguillard, George's mother. Rose's sister Arthemise married a Jules Pourciau, and their daughter Marie Ciphael married Victorin Pourciau. I could find no other records stating Victorin and Marie Ciphael had a child name George, so George A. (A. for Aguillard no doubt) must have been my George.

I got further circumstantial evidence when I found in my deceased grandmother's bible a newspaper clipping for the obituary of an Elaine Pourciau Disney. I was able to trace Elaine as the the granddaughter of Victorin and Marie Ciphael. Elaine must have been one of George's "nieces" that my grandmother said used to visit him.

Mix died early on after his marriage to Elizabeth Williams but they had one son named James H. Mix Jr. who also lived later in Pointe Coupee, LA. Elizabeth probably remarried. I don't have data for James OATES, but Addie SEGAR was dau of Joseph Meserve SEGAR (1803-1896) + Mary __ (1809-). Joseph was son of Josiah SEGAR (1747-1830) + Jeanne "Jane" Meserve (1763-1830).
