I recently found a photograph of an old envelope that was sent to Mr ROUMIER?, a "liquoriste", from La Reole, France in 1852. You can see the envelope on

I am uncertain if I am reading the name correctly and am unable to locate Mr ROUMIER in a census or similar source. I'm wondering if someone more familiar with New Orleans can verify the name, street address, and find him in a census or similar source. I believe that La Reole, France may be the his (or his parents') birthplace and this envelope will be helpful to someone in their genealogical research. The reason I have a photo of the envelope is because of my interest in using old envelopes and postcards in genealogical research. I have an article in the spring 2009 issue of New England Ancestors entitled Philatelic Genealogy (viewable at the philgen website) and have started the philgen website.
