am desparately seeking info abt ancestors. gfather was methodist minister, rev. elijah harp clark, born abt 1850 va. he served in the union army during the civil war, in la. 1864-1866became a police officer, new orleans,la. jan.1870 became an ordained minister 1877 new orleans,la.to include haven church in darrow,la. st.matthews and emanuel churches in nachitoches,la.1908 & 1909 and also one church in ark.in fact he died while pastoring the nachitoches churches in oct.1909. wife named victoria maestri (mastique) b. oct 1855 d. aug.1937 in new orleans la.three brothers named peter, robert and george, one or more settled in donaldsonville, ascension parish, la. may have had other siblings.elijah and victoria had ten children: 1. peter( rosa grey) new orleans 2. rev. theodile,aka "deal" (w # 1 rosalie johnson,w # 2 clara sayers) new orleans, baptist minister affiliated w/olive branch bapt. church. 3. rosa, never married, no children. 4. elijah, jr. ( w. louise) fled to fla. to avoid arrest for assaulting a white man who attempted to assault his mother,"victoria". he changed his name to john wise, setteled in jacksonville, fla.before 1937 then moved to dallas tx. in in his later years, where he died in the 1950's or 60's. 5. mary jane, never married, no children. 6. rev. dr. hezekiah l. clark, sr. ( w # 1 alice stokes, w # 2 thessalonia bailey, methodist minister strongly affiliated w/st matthews church , teche st., algiers, la.
