Victoria Richner Gregoire , a retired cook with the Jefferson Parish public school system, died Friday of kidney failure at East Jefferson General Hospital. She was 66. Mrs. Gregoire was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for many years. Survivors include her husband, Nelson Gregoire Sr.; two sons, Edward Brown and Fredrick Gregoire ; four daughters, Opal and Denise Gregoire , Gwendolyn Lee, and Deborah Webb; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, 11112 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge. Burial will be in Love and Charity Cemetery in Kenner.

Nelson Gregoire Sr., a retired skycap for New Orleans International Airport, died Monday of heart failure at Kenner Regional Medical Center. He was 73. Mr. Gregoire was born in St. James and lived in Kenner for the past 33 years. He was a member of St. Michael Baptist Church, where he served on Usher Board No. 1. Survivors include two sons, Frederick and Nelson Gregoire Jr.; four daughters, Gwendolyn G. Lee, Deborah Webb, Opal and Denise Gregoire ; a stepson, Edward Brown; a brother, Charles Gregoire ; two sisters, Oneda Joseph and Geneva Stemley; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Baptist Church, 315 James St., Kenner. Burial will be in Providence Rest Haven Cemetery in LaPlace. Brother of Oneda Joseph, Geneva Stemley both of La Place, LA, the late Nelson and Joseph Gregoire and Vera Bell. Also survived by two grandchildren, Da Ronne Davis of Los Angeles, CA and Shelby Taylor King of Baton Rouge, LA and one great grandchild, Layla Davis of Los Angeles, CA. As a side note, the Ellison Wascomb working beside Tho. Hull in 1880 was the son of Alex Wascom and Samantha Grant. Here is his death certificate:

Note: The Oldfield mentioned in these pensions is Milton Oldfield, the current town of Walker.

In the 1830 Census, there is a William Wascom in St. Tammany and a James Wascom in Washington. Either of these could be a father or some other relative. William Wascom is gone in the 1840 Census, but James is still there with another James.

I have seen online that Samantha Ann Graham is the daughter of James Graham and Ellender Brewer.

This seems to be Thomas Hull at the age of 18, which would put his birthdate around 1862.

This is his death certificate. If you are around Baton Rouge, you can get the actual copy from the State Archives. Lists parents as Solomon Hull and Malinda Galloway.

This is the civil war pension of Sarah Malinda Galloway Hull. There is some disagreement over the time and circumstances of Solomon’s death. Accused of being a deserter and a jayhawker. Thought to have been murdered on furlough. Really strong letters in it too. Very nice.

Thnx for the info, but what I failed to say was that I was Looking for info after 1850 I am familiar with his being a Confederate solider, but have no info after that.
I believe he died in 1863' but I do not know if he had a wife or family.
I cannot. find him in any census after. 1850.

Keep in mind that not much in Livingston Parish is above 10' of elevation. In that environment monuments don't last very long. Even if they are granite and don't decay, like marble does, they sink into the ground and disappear.

I was looking at the scanned images of the 1860 census of Livingston Parish and I'm amazed that anyone could transcribe anything from that. This writing is completely faded. Now, once upon a time, I ran into a problem at the Natl. Archives reading the 1850 census and they sent me to the reading room where I received the actual original bound manuscript, which was much easier to read. I'm wondering if anyone ever tried to transcribe the 1860 census for Livingston Parish from the original documents?

I dont have the date. The information I have came from the Livingston Parish History published in 1986 written by my 2nd cousin (deceased) Gloria Lambert Kerns. Not sure of her sources probably her mother who was my Grandfathers sister. She was a semiprofessional genealogist. Since I am not a member of Ancestry.com, I cannot open you tree, but would love to add your information to my tree. Any inf. you can send would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, most of your information is correct. Albert died in 1881 not 1887. They are buried in the Zeigler Cemetery at Springville Cemetery just outside of Springfield La.
Chesterfield a brother of Martin B. married Annie Gordon a sister to the wife of Andrew Milford (son of Albert and sister to Martha, Alice, and Rhonda. Will see if I can access your web page.

I figured it out last night. lol. Apparently, families liked to call their kids by their middle names. I know this to be true because my grandmother (Dorothy Loretta Coates, daughter of Martin B., son of Martin M. Coates from Yorkshire, England) was called Loretta. I figured that his name must be Thomas Morris instead of Morris Thomas. As soon as I reversed the names, I discovered a lot of other good info. My grandmother's father (Martin B.)and his brother (Thomas Morris) apparently did marry two Ziegler sisters. On another note, I have a Andrew Ziegler born in 1860 and listed as the brother of Alice Eugenia. Their parents were Albert Augustus Ziegler (1836-1887) and Rebecca Wall (1824-1891). I don't know if this info about Albert and Rebecca is correct as of yet, and I need to confirm all this. (I recently added these names.) By the way, my name is Michael Lavigne Behrens and my family tree is Michael Behrens Family Tree. My mother was Carmen Eugenia Lavigne (1921-1971). She was married to my dad, Leroy Morris Behrens (III). He went by Jr., but he was not really a Jr. He just liked to be known as Jr. after his grandfather (Leroy Sr.) passed away. Don't ask me why he did this. Anyway, Carmen's father is Samuel Robertson Lavigne (1888-1960) who was married to my grandmother, Dorothy Loretta Coates. Samuel is buried in Kennewick, WA. I have a picture of the headstone. My family lived in Richland, WA during that period. My dad worked at Hanford Nuclear Plant beginning after WWII. He moved the family back to Louisiana in 1966. I have more info if you're interested.

Suspect the Thomas Morris is your Morris T. Would make sense that brothers married sisters. Other siblings than the ones you listed are Stephen, Martha, John, along with Martin B. These were listed in the 1860 census. Would be greatly interested in your line of the family. I have nothing on the three sisters of Andrew Milford Zeigler other than who they married. I have an extensive data base on the free site Roots Web.

I suspected Martin B had a brother by the name of Thomas Morris who married sisters Matilda Zeigler and Alice Eugenia. My nephew came across a picture of Thomas and Matilda, but I couldn't match them to anyone in my line. And, I can't find a Thomas Morris that was a sibling of Martin B Coates. The only siblings of Martin B Coates that I've found are Morris T, Paul L, and Christerfield Coates. If you have sources showing Thomas Morris Coates being a brother of Martin B Coates, then could you tell me where to look? I sure would appreciate that. Martin B and Alice Eugenia (Ziegler) Coates are my maternal grandmother's parents. (My mother's middle name is Eugenia after Alice Eugenia. I'm Michael Behrens, grandson of Dorothy Loretta Coates LaVigne. My tree is "Michael Behrens Family Tree".) Anyway, I can't find anything on the death dates of Martin B and Alice E. I do know who Martin's parents are: Martin Morris Coates (from Yorkshire, England) and Colasta Gordon. I haven't been able to find any death dates on Martin B Coates or Alice Eugenia Ziegler.

It is interesting to note that the family name is recorded as two words 'Le' and 'Bourgeois'.

George Williams LeBourgeois was my Father. I was born in Plymouth,UK in May 1945. I was adopted when 6 months old. According to US Navy Records, my Father was Court Marshalled and shipped back to the USA. I too am trying to find out if he married, had children, and his cause of death in 1960. The Obituary in the Times Picayune mentions 'beloved husband of Lodie Moore' - I can find no trace of her. Your idea of Odette being connected is worth following up.

Look for info on George Lebourgeois, son of August Lebourgeois. He was born 1924 and died 1960. Need info on his wife and any children. Odette Lebourgeois is in the grave next to him. Is this his wife? Maiden Name? Cause of Death?

I am trying to find where Alexander Bookter is buried. He was born 1758 in S.C. and died 1824 in St. Helena Parish, La. He moved to Springfield, La. but don't know for sure when. But there was a Bookter Landing in Springfield, La. I have been looking for the cemetery he is buried in in St. Helena Parish, but realized that Springfield was in St. Helena Parish back in the 1824 when he died, so he is probably buried somewhere around Springfield since that is where he lived when he died. Does anyone know where Alexander Bookter is buried. I would apprecate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.
