I am trying to find proof that Jarvis Milen Embry, who had a tanning business in Ruston/Vienna area ca 1850, was married to a Mary McElroy. All records prior to 1870 seem to be lost.
Jarvis later married in 1870 to Fannie P. Cook of Winn Parish, daughter of Joshua P. Cook M.D., and raised their family in Jonesboro, Jackson Parish.
Are there any early newspapers or church records (marriage/baptism/death) for the years 1850-1870 anywhere to be found for Lincoln Parish.
Also Jarvis had a sister Nancy who married John Collier and a sister who married a Mr Perry. Anyone familiar with these families?
