Eddie,
It's worth a look-see. It's possible he may be one and the same. The John I'm looking for had only one daughter (to my knowledge) and her son or grandson eventually was the governor of LA (John Milliken Parker).

What info I have is at home, but I'm looking to see if John/Johnny Milliken was a descendant of Charles Millakin. I believe John was originally from KY.

Thanks for your help!
Keith

Yes. I have a copy of this book and while it is very detailed and informative, there was no information which might make a connection to the Dismukes family.

I trying to find out what original sources David Mason might have used to include this surname on his list.

A number of websites and books cite a list compiled by David P. Mason of families either at the fort or relatives of people at the fort. Mason wrote "Five Dollars a Scalp: The Last Mighty War Whoop of The Creek Indians" and "Massacre at Fort Mims". I do not know which publication contains this list.

I am researching one of the surnames on the list"Dismukes".

Do you have access to either of Masons books? Does he cite his source for inclusion of the Dismukes name on the list?

I am most anxious to learn how this family is connected to Ft. Mims as it may yield so much more about the family.

Louisiana Statewide Death Index, 1900-1949

Vital records can be great sources of genealogical information. Besides providing the name of the person whom the record was created for, vital records can provide a wealth of other information. Birth records at a minimum will generally include the name of the child, the date and place of birth, and the parents' names. Often birth records will include the race of the parents, their ages, occupations, birthplaces, and marital status. Death records at a minimum will contain the deceased person's name, and the date and place of death. However, they often will also include the cause of death, age at time of death, place of birth, parents' names, occupation, name of spouse, name of the person giving the information, and the informant's relationship to the deceased. Information found in marriage records can range from just the bride and groom's names and the date and place of marriage to including the bride and groom's ages, birthplaces and dates, their residences, and their parents' names.
To obtain copies of vital records after 1914 you can write the Louisiana Vital Records Registry at PO Box 60630 New Orleans, LA 70160.

I need a grave lookup for John Robert Bartholamew or John Robert Parker. I was told he was killed in 1945 over a card game. I have little to no info on him. I was told he is buried in Ferriday Cem in Vidalia, Concordia Parish, LA. I think if I can get a photo of his grave this should give me the name he went by and may help me find something on him for my son's side of the tree. I was told he married a Annie Beatrice James in 1932 - 1933. They had one son Robert Elvis Bartholamew (Buddy) born 12 May 1934 (my ex father in law). Buddy was murdered last Oct 08 in Fields, LA. and up until then I didn't know his sons knew nothing about their Grandpa. I don't know where and can't seem to find any info on him. Any and all help will be so appreciated, Thanking you in advance. Please email me privately at rbmartinez@gt.rr.com
Rena Martinez

Hello Bahin. I was surfing through the Concordia Parish Message Boards and noticed some of your posts. I have done some research on the Hootsell name myself, and am wondering if you know how the Hootsells are related to the Burns family of Natchez (Will Burns, Sam Burns) through your grandmother, Catherine (Katie) Aloysious Joyce Hootsell? If you don't know and are interested, e-mail me at sbburns@aol.com
By the way. I graduated from Natchez High in 1958 and I remember you as a Junior that year.

Best Regards,

Sam

Aunt Myrtle and Jane (Dickie's wife) were buried the same day at Pineville, La. in a cemetery which had been operated by her brother, Cliff. Aunt Myrtle had been in the hospital in Natchez for some time; during that time Jane collapsed from a brain tumor while at the doctor's office complaining of a headache. They died within hours of one another. It was a "double" funeral. It was a difficult time for Dickie and children. pattywatts@hotmail.com

Looking for information on James W. Tucker who married Mary Hester Headrick. Possibly married in Concordia Parish, as he lived at Jeffries Landing in 1912. Lived around Jonesville,Concordia Parish, LA when their son was born in 1914. Registered for the draft in 1917 and stated residence was Serena, Concordia Parish, LA. Was a fisherman. Died 1918 - 1919 in the flu pandemic. Haven't been able to locate a grave, death cert or marriage record for them. Am told by his grand daughter that James was buried in a vault above ground.

Hester Headrick remarried Robert O. Davis abt 1926 and had a daughter Lilly Nell. They are in Franklin parish in 1930.

Any help appreciated as the Tucker line is my direct line and this is the only sibling of my great grandmother who died without a death certificate in 1917.

Kashlyn Moore Covington
Las Vegas, NV

Hello,

Are you kin to Simeon Thomas Holland? I have him listed as marring Nina Viola Rabb. They are buried in the Olla Cemetery. I am distant kin through Simeon's mother, she was an Ebey and so am I.
Thanks,
Marlon

Ravenswood Plantation?

I am looking for a plantation that (in 1873) was located on the shores of Lake St. John in Louisiana. My great-great-grandmother, Ella Lucretia Sirmon, daughter of James S. Sirmon, was living on this plantation in 1873 when she was married to my great-great-grandfather, J.R. Palmero in St. Mary Basilica in Natchez, MS. A witness to their marriage (and I think a relation by marriage to Ella's father) was J.K. Guice. On the record of the marriage found in the Basilica records, the priest who married them wrote that "the partner (meaning Ella,) is living in Louisiana, on Ravenswood Plantation, on the banks of Lake St. John." I would appreciate any information on Ravenswood Plantation (Or if no such plantation exists, any plantation on the banks of Lake St. John), and/or on any of the people I mentioned. Thanks!
