Re: Wildsville in Concordia Parish LA -- The Wilds Family mentioned is my family. Oliver Norris Wilds of Natchez MS founded Wildsville through the farm the family had there, now owned by my cousin, Dickey. You might know when Wildsville actually was founded (I always believed it was founded by Oliver). Oliver's father was named Richard. He was born in Manchester, England and moved to Natchez and ran a foundry business. Oliver served and was wounded at Shiloh. He and his wife, Barbara Koerber, had several children, among them my great-grandfather, Richard Wilds, also known as "Uncle Dick". He served in the LA legislature during the 1930's. He was well-loved. Great Uncle Richard, Dickey's father and Great Aunt Myrtle's husband, remained in Wildsville after the death of my great-grandfather. Our family also includes the Beard family (or Baird) from the same area. I would appreciate any further information you may have regarding my family history or the history of Wildsville.

Aunt Myrtle and Jane (Dickie's wife) were buried the same day at Pineville, La. in a cemetery which had been operated by her brother, Cliff. Aunt Myrtle had been in the hospital in Natchez for some time; during that time Jane collapsed from a brain tumor while at the doctor's office complaining of a headache. They died within hours of one another. It was a "double" funeral. It was a difficult time for Dickie and children. pattywatts@hotmail.com
