Am searching for descendants of Emile CORBELLO & TEnnessee Ann (MCQUEEN) CORBELLO who lived in Calcasieu Parish. Her parents Milton MCQUEEN & Susan SIMMONS from TEnnessee. I am writing 3rd in series of books on MCQUEEN & CREWS (Anne's grandfather was David Milton CREWS) and will detail Milton & Susan's children in this book. Would like contact with a family member from CORBELLO line and a bit more info. All I have is what I found in biographies on the LA Gen Web, Calcasieu Par, Archives Page.

Have heard some family stories and would like to verify. Thanks.

Billy,

Thanks for your response. I was excited to get an answer after all this time!

I don't know if your Corbellos are the ones I am looking for as I have so little info on them. All I have are names of children of Emile Corbello & Tennesse Anne McQueen. They are as follows - Mary Corbello, John Corbello, Ophelia Corbello, Amanda Corbello, Susan Corbello, Sarah Corbello, William Corbello, George Corbello, Rosalie Corbello, Edward Corbello, & James Corbello. All apparently born in Calcasieu Parish, LA. Don't know if there are any Orange Co connections or not but Tennessee Anne's family was from Tyler County Texas and she had Taylor relatives in Orange Co so anything is possible.

Do any of the above names sound familiar to you? I have a lot more questions and info but hesitate sending in case we are not connected.

I am interested in the McQueen & Taylor Family's with connection to Jasper Co. Tx. They were early settlers.
I'm thinking there were some in La. Calcasieu Parish.

Donna;
Mary Teressa Corbello (04 JUL 1854-28 JAN 1938) was my g-grandmother, born in Calcasieu Parish and married Samuel Burgess and lived in Orange county. I have much of her descendancy and some pictures if you're interested.

I'd be interested in obtaining a gedcom file of any other Corbello descendants.

I noted last month at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo that there was a Jeff Corbello who rode, and I looked him up on the program-- he hails from Iowa. Might find him in the phone book.

Hi

I am not searching the Corbello line, but looking at a sheet I requested from the Lake Charles Gen Libary which is a chart from the Nat. Gen Society, I saw a Corbello listed and thought I would give you the information in the event it was part of your family. *John Clifford Corbello, b February 28, 1888, married 1912, died December 29, 1959, Groves, Texas, married Hilda Gentil, died 1975, Groves, Texas. John and Hilda had Freddie Bernard Corbello, b 2/6/1929, Port Neches, Texas, married Rita Joyce Mire.
Freddie Bernard had Freddie Dale Corbello; the compiler was Jo Ann Corbello, wife of Freddie Dale Corbello and was submitted in 1979. The sheet shows more dates, etc., but I hesitate to type it all in if it is not information you need. The John Corbello line goes back three generations in some cases.

Carolyn B.
I married into the Bonnin family from Sulphur and have been doing research on behalf of Elmo Bonnin from Sulphur, Calcasieu Parish.

I am very sorry that I took so long to respond about Corbello's in Calcasieu Parish. I called my uncle-Lee Savoie in Lake Charles, and he said that several of those names sounded familiar, the Corbello's in my family came from the Canary Islands (48 families)to southern Mexico, and migrated to San Antonio, Texas.(which was supposedly named after Antonio Corbello, But you know how rumors go),then they came to Calcasieu Parish,La. If you would like to e-mail me at hangfire@centurytel.net or call me I could put you in touch with my uncle or some other Corbello's in Lake Charles, LaMyy phone number is 318-992-5798, anytime after 4:30 or 5:00 P.M. would be fine, hope this will help you and you could probably give me some very interesting information, thanks for your response..

I am a direct descendant of the Corbello family and have done research on them for about 27 years. I am sorry to say that San Antonio was not named after one of the Corbellos, although that would be nice. An interesting story on how they ended up on Louisiana--in 1813 when the Americans took over San Antonio from the Mexicans, the Corbellos were accused of being American sympathizers. When the Mexicans took the town back from American control, the Corbellos were asked to leave, so they traveled first to Opelousas then on to Calcasieu Parish where they settled. Many returned to Texas in the late 1800's. The person with the most extensive information that I know of is Nell Whittington who has a message on this webpage. I would be happy to share any information with anyone who asks. Donna Corbello Woodard

Emile is definitely related to the Orange Co. Corbellos. Emile's brother was Alphonse Amadee who moved his family to Orange Co., Texas by 1900. Amadee was my great-grandfather. He was shot in the head by a neighbor in 1903 and finally died in 1904 in Gossport, Louisiana in the house of his son, Nicholas. I am at work right now, so I don't have my family book with me, but I will bring it in later if you want additional information on this family. Donna Corbello Woodard

My great grandfather was Alphonse Amadee Courville (Corbello). He moved with his family to Orange County, Texas by 1900. Do you have information on that branch of the family? Most of my family lives in the Beaumont area, where I was born and raised. Thank you for any information. Donna Corbello Woodard
