My great great great grandfather, James Paul
Taylor, is buried in
Orange County. The
Williamson Cemetery in Vidor. He was born in 1825 in
Tennessee and first shows up in
Panola County, Tx in 1850, marrying Elizabeth
Anderson. The later moved to
McLennan County,
Texas where he's on the 1860 and 1870 census. On the 1870 census he's married to a different woman, however. She is Susan
Davis, who once lived with her family in
Orange County. Sometime in the early 1870's James and his wife Susan and their younger children moved from
McLennan to Calcasieu
Parish where he went into the timbering business. His neighbors in Calcasieu were Susan
Davis' parents. James lived in Calcasieu for years and is listed on the 1880 and 1900 census records. He died in 1909 and is buried in Vidor, next to his son,
Reece Taylor. Reece was never married, and my guess is that they were still living with each other in the early 1900's and
Reece got a job in
Orange and James moved in with him. I'd love to talk to anyone out there connected with this line, as it's become very interesting and also a MAJOR brick wall. James Paul
Taylor is somewhat of a mysterious figure and I have alot of info about his life for anyone who's interested. Thanks!
