Thank you for the information. Do you have any sources or information to why the Seaman family migrated to Sugartown? My g-g grandmother is a sibling of George Washington Seaman and she and her husband moved from Mississippi to this area about the same time. I am curious about the connection between these two families and why they setteled in SW LA.

My mom is Versie and I remember Aunt Pearl very well. We used to visit with them whenever we came to La. I don't have any knowledge of Aunt Stella or any of the sisters going to the UK. As for the Cooleys, most researchers have them in NC in the late 1700's and then to SC where John Cooley's will was probated Send me an email and I'll share what I have. Julia Cooley was my g grandmother. My grandmother Pearl said that the AE was a mistake--some people in searching for ancestry mistakenly put her name as Julia Ann, but her name was actually Julia Elizabeth. My grandmother was Julia's last child that lived before Julia passed. I am trying to find out the correct spelling of Cooley from immigration forms--I know that Aunt Stella and a few of the sisters went to the UK and there is a castle over there that is from that side of the family--if you have any nfo on this I would appreciate it. I do remember Aunt Rose well.

I know this is very old, but I am looking for information on a "Mertha" Lyons who was the last child of my 3rd g. grandmother, Sarah Jane McCullough and Augustus Lyons. Mertha is on the census in 1890 as about 1 year old. "Gus" died in 1902, and Sarah died in 1924 in Alco (up in Sabine parish). Could Ritha/Mertha be the same person? Sarah's other children from 2 previous marriages scattered all over Beauregard, Allen, Calcasieu, Vernon, etc. parishes, so it would be unsurprising to me to find out that Ritha/Mertha was her child (Sarah Jane was 47 when Mertha was born.) who had been raised by one of her children.

In looking here on ancestry I was able to pull up Cheryl's social security no along with birth, 20 JUl 1960,died 15 Jun 1990, buried at Beauregard Cemetery,, after doing more research, it is possible the name of grave is misspelled, it says Roster, the other dates match.
I have friended this young lady on facebook and will do what I can to help her,,
do you know if she was married to a Gregory K. Bordenkucher (Bordenkircher),, I found a record in fla for a divorce 1 Aug 1988,,,

the only burnett in my family was married to gladys mae green. her father was amos green and his father was preston paul green who married lucinda simmons.

his name could have been al burnett from reeves, la ( this might be alfred burnett ) ???

I haven't been able to find it here lately; was it removed? URL changed? or what?

I am helping my partner Danny D Brown to research his family. he is Henry - Morgan - Frank - Huey - Danny.
you seem to be stuck in the same place I am. This family is very elusive. none of the people listed above are consistent in the census records....It's just baffling to me.
I do know that the family was in Vernon Parish and then in 1913 Beauregard Parish was formed and it appears that where they lived in Vernon was absorbed into Beauregard. So...I have been scanning back and forth between the 2. The majority of the family as you probably know are in the Beauregard Cemetery. I have scanned every cemetery in Vernon and Beauregard and can't find Henry or Amanda anywhere.
Curious if you've made any progress.

I'm looking for the relatives of Raymond SMITH b 1834 in Lousiana married to Carolina ILES b 1850 in Virginia. raymond and Carolina had the following children together:

Beauregard Parish was formed in 1913 from part of Calcasieu Parish so anyone living in the area in 1910 should have been recorded in the 1910 census of Calcasieu Parish. I say "should" because my ancestors seemed to have been good at hiding from the census takers.

WHAT WAS HIS FATHER'S NAME?

His mother's name was Hilda C Duhon. After her Arceneaux husband was killed soon after Louis was born, she married Willard Stephens. After Willard died, she married JC Cruz and lived at Newllano, LA where she died.

Louis attended De Ridder High School, and was employed in the area, so his mother and step-father appearantly lived at DeRidder.

He died in a hunting accident on 28 Feb 1971 in the De Ridder area and is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

I would like an obit, if possible.
