Hicks, 96, Frederick, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Grant
Newton, pastor, and the Rev. Jimmy
Hicks, grandson, officiating.
Mrs. Hicks died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, in Frederick.
Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 25, 1910, in Eagletown, to Quitman and Timesy Wall Ashalintubby.
She attended [Chillocco Indian School in southeast
Oklahoma]. She married Laymon C. Hicks on March 23, 1932, in
Mena,
Polk County,
Ark. He died Oct 3, 1996. They moved to Frederick in November 1952 from Smithville. When she was young, she was a caregiver for the elderly and she was a homemaker. She was involved in her church work as a member of Frederick First Assembly of God.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law,
Houston and Norma
Hicks, Frederick; three daughters and two sons-in-law:
Rena and Bill Cornelius, Muskogee; and Mary and Charlie Teague, and Dora
Williams, all of Frederick; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Virginia Hicks; three sisters: IRENE BLUEYE, Lylie
Going and Silis Vanderver; a brother, Benjamin Bohannon; and two grandsons: Paul and
Degan Dennis.
