Hi Laura,

Thanks for the information about the shooting.

That is my gg grandmother, Eva Thibodeaux with her daughter, Paulina (Olena) Delafosse. Eva first moved to Mallett, but later to Mamou, where she lived for several years.

I corresponded with William a few months ago. Turns out he descends from Theodule's brother, Louis Sylvestre Thibodeaux. (I believe that was his name.) Fortunately, William knew Eva's brother, Anatole. I was able to speak with one of Anatole's sons and granddaughter and was able to make sense out of it all. One thing's still unclear. When Eva married, her mother was listed as Alexandrine Jansonne. Still don't know who that is. I think she may be another person that had a child with Theodule; however, Anatole's son says that Eva & Anatole's mother was Marie Ophelia Richard Goodwin. Speaking of, do you have any more information on her? Her picture?

I didn't know about William's wife descending from Alexandre. I believe Alexandre is the son of this Alexandrine Jansonne. I'll have to follow-up with him to maybe make sense of it.

Thanks again!

Hello,

I talked with Marie Richard Augustus today, who is a cousin of mine from the Colas family, and your cousin on the Guidry side. One of Adolph Richard & Hermina Guidry Richard's son named Hebert Richard who is 93yrs old lives in St. Landry Parish. Marie contacted her Uncle about the shooting and he stated that the Authorities determined the shooting was in self-defense.

According to the 1930 census Eva Thibodeaux resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Evangeline Parish. Her daughter is listed as being married to a Delafosse.

There is a William Thibodeaux who on the message boards that may have info about Theodule Thibodeaux. He stated that his wife is from the line of Theodule Thibodeaux's son named Alexandre Thibodeaux, and he is from the line of Sylvestre Thibodeaux, who is Theodule Thibodeaux's brother.
Mr. Thibodeaux may also be related to you by his ggrandmother who is an Ophelia Guidry. When I spoke to Marie she stated that Ophelia Guidry is Felix Guidry's sister. Ophelia Guidry married a Louis or Oneal Thibodeaux.

Sincerely,

Laura

PIerre is a very common name in any family line, however in the french/ cajun family it it the same as the smiths or jones
depending on when and where he was bornyou may want to look in the canadian files too
Arceneaux is just one spelling of that last name and it can be found not only in LA area but also in the north east area of maine and in Canada too
that is my mother's maiden surname, and we have atleast a dozen pierres's in it, however, she spaells it arseneau

Other spellings are arseneault, arsenault, arseneaux, arceneault just to name a few. people have a tendency to use only on spelling when putting a tree on the web thought it may actually be another

Also keep in mind that about 1750 the canadians had the disporsa and many French Canadians were deported throughout the US and france including to LA USA

I'm sorry but I don't have any of these names in my Breaux tree. I have a book written by Robert Brault which is the most difinitive work I have ever seen on the Breau lineage. I did not find a Bridget in the book. I wouldn't be surprised it Robert Brault replied to this post so maybe he can be of further assistance. If other researchers believe her name wasn't Breaux, I'd recommend following up on any other surnames they might have suggested.
Please keep the various spellings in mind. Breaux, Brault, Breau, Braud, Breault, & Brow are some I have seen.
Good luck!

I am searching for any information on Duplechin Leger. He was married to Louise LeBlanc. They had a child named Marie Ozite Leger, who was baptized on October 20, 1912, in Rayne, La. Ozite married Adonis Abshire in 1932. Ozite and Adonis had a total of 9 children, giving them all up to seperate foster homes. This is my husbands family, and we are trying desperately to find who his family truely is, and if there are any native americans linked to this family. Many want to claim native blood for their 'casino checks'. We want to know where he comes from for the simple fact of not knowing who his true family is, and where he belongs. Any and all help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello everyone. My name is Cole Pierrottie, son of Wanda Pierrottie (former writer for the Eunice news), grandson of Jimmy Pierrottie. My family is predominantly from Eunice and Mamou. I'm trying to link the American Pierrottie family with the our Italian heritage for a college paper. I'll try not to overwhelm anyone, but I am completely in the dark concerning this issue. First off, are all Pierrottie's from the same Italian family tree (i.e. Pierotti, Protti, Pierrotti, etc.)? If not, do any of you have the branch off? Are we all related? Does anyone have the original story of whom and where we came from, and why? I'll leave it at this, being that any of the answers to these questions would get me off to a tremendous start.

Thanks

Sorry I see its listed as Shavers I have never seen a family name with so many different spellings my grgrandfather John S Shaver was listred as Shaner in his civil war record. This 1910 census has Frank Shavers who married the widow Mary J Craft in 1903 and their children are the last three on the census .After Frank died the widow Mary married an Otto Shultz and moved to Texas. I don't suppose he is connected to Johm M Shaver as looks like he was born 1871.A grandson of this Frank still lives in Anacoco La but dosen't know anything said after his mom and dad divorced he had no contact with any Shaver.I haven't found any Mississippi Shaver he could be connected to

Thank you so much for all this information.I am trying to prove a connection between Frank Shaver listed on the 1910 Vernon Parish census altho he has his father as born in Mississippi and the family of John M Shaver.I am from a different Shaver family those of Bossier Parish and there are some who think that Frank Shaver is of this family due to the simular names but acually I knew my mothers Uncle Frank and know he was childless. Thanks again.

Wow that is news I live north of Lake Charles in DeQuincy I have been researching Shaver's in La for a few years and am sure of my Shaver family but there are some that believe that the Frnk Shaver on the 1910 Vernon census is a member of my grandmother Mary Ada Shaver Burns family she had a brother named Frank but he died childless I have been trying to help find who this Frank Shaver born Mississippi belongs to so thats why I looked up John M Shaver who is your family His census in Mongomery Missisippi has wife Susan ,Elber G. AGE 4 and Henry S. age 2 don't know what happened to Henry but do not see a Frank (Frank had three boys in 1910 George R.,Frank jr and Henry N.) It looks like he is 29 or 39.Any way good to know about you

Hi,

Today I answered my own questions when I found a book on the Pierotti family. It is an excellent book and is very detailed. The book is entitled, "Pierotti, Pierrotti, Pierrottie Family" by Murphy Miller, Jr. of Florida and it was published in 2004. Mr. Miller can be contacted at murphymiller@alltel.net or (386) 462-5067. His home address is 10108 NW 171 Terrace, Alachua, Florida 32615.

Your mother and grandfather are in the book and I learned that Jimmy's father was Valmon, the son of Albert A. Pierotti who was the son of your immigrant Pierotti ancestor, Constantino Auguste Pierotti. Mr. Miller believes that the spelling, Pierotti, is the correct spelling. Your ancestor's name is spelled as such on his 1855 passport. I first found this ancestor on the 1870 St. Landry census where his name is listed as August Peroti.

To answer your question about the different spellings, I would say that they are all the same name, only spelled differently by various people who recorded it. Mr. Miller writes about this in his book.

The exciting thing is that this book traces your Pierotti ancestry back to 1490. It is as follows:
Valmon 1909
Albert A. 1874
Constantino Auguste 1832 [Monte di Villa, Lucca, Italy]
Tomaso 1791
Giuseppi Antonio 1762
Bernardo Marie 1718
Nicolau Francesco 1682
Bernardo 1657
Nicolao 1606
Domenico
Bernardo
Francesco 1520
Domenico 1490

If you live in LA, you should be able to find this book at your local library. If you live out of state, you can ask your local library to request a copy of the book from the Louisiana State Library in Baton Rouge.

Hope this information helps.

Cheryl

Hi,

I may be able to help you, but first I need to ask a few questions?

[1] I found a Jimmy Pierrottie who was born 8/16/1939 and died 6/10/1998. Was this your grandfather?

[2] If the answer is yes, do you know the name of his father or older siblings who would have been born before 1930? The most recent census available is 1930.

I have found a Pierrottie [Pierotti, Pierrotti, Pirrotti, Peroti] family and I've traced it from 1870 in St. Landry Parish to 1920 and 1930 in Evangeline. I'm fairly sure this is your family, but I have to connect your grandfather to the people I've found. As I mentioned, your grandfather does not appear on a census and I have to know his older siblings or his father.

Cheryl

Re: 1900 and 1910 Acadia census John M Shaver born South Carolina

Hi,

Like you, I don't find a connection with the Frank Shaver in Vernon Parish and your John M. Shaver. John did have a nephew named Frank M. Shaver who was born in 1869. However, I found him in SC from 1870 until 1920. The Frank in Vernon Parish may have been the son of John Shaver who was in Angelina Co., TX in 1880. There was so much misinformation given for ages and places of birth when the census records were taken. Sometimes it makes it difficult to trace families from one place to another.

In my search, I did find that John M. Shaver's older brother W.K. Shaver [on the 1850 census] was actually William K. Shaver and he was in Pickens Co., Alabama in 1860 and 1880. I didn't find him in 1870, but he was apparently in Pickens County. By 1900, he was in Collin Co., TX and by 1920, he and his wife [both in their 80s] were living in Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., TX with their son, James T. and his family. I didn't find William in 1910, but James and his family were in Wichita Falls. I found a W.K. Shaver who died in Wichita Co. on 11/1/1928 and I assume it is that W.K. Shaver. His age was not given.

Cheryl

If that's the case, then you are not related to the John M. Shaver from Acadia Parish and the Shavers from Lancaster Co., SC. It seems your Shavers came from Missouri.

Acadia Parish - Crowley - Declouet or Decluette or De Cluitte (Paul, Louise and Clarence)

I am new to genealogy and could use some help on where to look for more information on my father’s side of the family. Any help of where to look on the Internet or in Crowley would be much appreciated. My husband wanted to go to Jazz Fest in New Orleans, so I am going to take the time and drive to Crowley for a few days. Is there a good place to do research in Crowley or the general area?

From the research I have done, my paternal grandfather, Clarence was born in Crowley, LA in about 1909. He was listed on the 1910 census as age 2 with his parents, Paul and Louise. Their address was 459 W Hutchinson Avenue in Crowley.

Their sir name was listed as Declouet. I did find a letter from Louise addressed to my father in 1952 and she spelled his name as De Cluitte and I have since found many spellings for the same name.

Thanks in advance for any help. I can be emailed at janhiggy@yahoo.com.
